10 Best Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Quotes
After ten episodes, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 1 has come to an end, and the first chapter of Marvel's exciting animated Multiverse Saga series contains many memorable and iconic new MCU quotes. While Tom Holland prepares to embark on new adventures as the MCU's live-action Peter Parker, What If...?'s Hudson Thames voices an animated version of the beloved wall-crawler from an alternate universe. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man explores Peter Parker's origin story and partnership with Norman Osborn, forging him into a steadfast MCU superhero.
Some of the most memorable and quotable lines from Marvel Comics' history have involved Spider-Man, and this theme continues in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. The animated series featured many powerful, poignant, intense and funny moments that saw Marvel deliver many brilliant quotes. It's hard to narrow it down to just a few that stand out as firm favorites, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man's success and popularity means it'll likely be quoted for years to come, but some lines stick out more than others.
10 “Just Consider It A Good Deed From Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. That’s Me By The Way. I Am… I’m Spider-Man.”
Peter Parker In Episode 1, “Amazing Fantasy”
After Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man's premiere, "Amazing Fantasy," showed audiences Peter Parker getting bitten by his fateful spider on his first day at Midtown High, episode 1 jumped to a few months later. This caught up with Parker already operating as Spider-Man in a rudimentary costume similar to Tom Holland's Spider-Man before receiving his Stark-made suit. In this scene, Spider-Man stops to save Harry Osborn from being mugged while swinging to school, allowing him to introduce himself as "your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man" for the first time.
This scene marked a strong introduction for Harry Osborn, setting up his subsequent storylines of feeling separate from his peers and viewed differently because of his family's wealth. This also provided a brilliant excuse for Peter Parker to find himself under the wing of Harry's father, Colman Domingo's Norman Osborn, who feels indebted to Spider-Man for saving his son. The fact that Parker trips over his words, too, shows his youthfulness and awkwardness that Tom Holland captured so well in the live-action MCU.
9 “Now That We’re Working Together, If You’re Not The Best Hero You Can Be, Then I’ve Failed.”
Norman Osborn In Episode 4, “Hitting The Big Time”
This moment in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episode 4, "Hitting the Big Time," marked a powerful shift in Peter Parker's superhero career. He spent the episode's duration testing out new Oscorp-designed superhero costumes, none of which allowed him to perform his talents as Spider-Man effectively. Before being gifted his sleek, black-and-white suit, Peter Parker shares a moment with Norman Osborn, who suggests that he wants to use Oscorp's influence to give back to New York City, and forging Spider-Man into "the best hero [he] can be" is his measure of success.

I'm Disappointed Norman Osborn's First Appearance In The MCU Is As Iron Man's Replacement
Norman Osborn has arrived in the MCU, but I wasn't expecting him to embody the role of Iron Man in his Spider-Man story quite so overtly.
Norman Osborn in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has certainly shown questionable techniques and has sinister undertones, but we have mostly seen him actually trying his best to mentor Peter Parker and create the most helpful and put-together version of Spider-Man he can. This quote underlines Osborn's intent to do good for New York, but also his sheer ambition and dangerously high standards for both himself and Peter Parker. This ambition bites him later in the season, and will certainly play a role in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 and beyond.
8 “A Spider Should Never Take Its Eyes Off A Scorpion.”
Mac Gargan In Episode 9, “Hero Or Menace”
Spider-Man's first adventure in his final, red-and-blue superhero suit in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man's penultimate episode, "Hero or Menace," saw him finally get the better of Mac Gargan's villainous Scorpion. Lonnie Lincoln saved Big Donovan from Gargan in episode 5, before Gargan was enhanced with the Scorpion armor in episode 6. Episode 7 saw the Scorpion seriously injure Spider-Man during battle, but "Hero or Menace," despite Gargan seemingly having the upper hand at one point, delivering this quote, Spider-Man and Tombstone teamed up to take the Scorpion down.
Michael Mando portrayed Mac Gargan in 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming, and was teased into becoming the Scorpion with a vendetta against Spider-Man in the movie's post-credits scene. This moment has not been paid off, however, contributing to one of the MCU's most annoying loose ends.
Fights between real-world spiders and scorpions have often fascinated the masses, with the two arachnids being the perfect dark mirrors to each other. This makes the battle between Spider-Man and the Scorpion in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man more meaningful, as, in the wild, a spider probably shouldn't take its eyes off a scorpion. This moment allowed the animated Spider-Man to show his anger like Tom Holland's web-slinger did in Spider-Man: No Way Home, almost killing Gargan on the advice of Norman Osborn, but his mercy shone through.
7 “Sometimes Things Just Gotta Get Done, Whether You Want To Do Them Or Not.”
Aunt May In Episode 3, “Secret Identity Crisis”
Just like in the MCU, Aunt May plays a key role in Peter Parker's development throughout Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. May is Peter's sole caregiver, as, for most of the season, both of Parker's parents and his Uncle Ben are presumed to be deceased. This makes this scene in episode 3, "Secret Identity Crisis," much more emotional, as May speaks this line while finally packing up some of Ben's belongings, seemingly only a few months after his death under unknown circumstances. This could be seen as a twist on one iconic Spider-Man quote.

"The Most Important Part Of The Show": Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Explains Major Season 1 Finale Reveal And How It Affects The MCU's Newest Peter Parker
EXCLUSIVE: The MCU's new Spider-Man actor breaks down the huge Marvel season 1 finale twist and how this will set up things for season 2 for Peter.
This line carries the same message as Marisa Tomei's Aunt May delivering the "with great power, there must also come great responsibility" line from Spider-Man: No Way Home. Sometimes, Peter Parker will have to just get things done, whether he wants to or not, so this moment will surely stick with him throughout his career as Spider-Man. This quote proves Aunt May's pragmatism and grounded nature, motherhood sensibility when giving Peter Parker an important life lesson, and her kindness, as she softens the blow of removing Uncle Ben's belongings, which could be traumatic.
6 “I Can Tell You’re Young, You’re Trying To Do The Right Thing, But This Isn’t It.”
Matt Murdock In Episode 6, “Duel With The Devil”
Charlie Cox reprised his role of Matt Murdock's Daredevil in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episode 6, "Duel With the Devil." Cox has become one of the MCU's most frequent actors since returning to the role of the Man Without Fear in Spider-Man: No Way Home, so it was great to hear him again in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, especially since this saw Daredevil and Spider-Man finally battle it out on-screen. The pair of New York-based heroes have crossed paths many times in Marvel Comics, but this scene almost solidified Spider-Man as a villain.
Daredevil's MCU Project | Year | Role |
---|---|---|
Daredevil Season 1 | 2015 | Lead |
Daredevil Season 2 | 2016 | Lead |
The Defenders | 2017 | Main Cast |
Daredevil Season 3 | 2018 | Lead |
Spider-Man: No Way Home | 2021 | Cameo |
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law | 2022 | Supporting Cast |
Echo | 2024 | Cameo |
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man | 2025 | Cameo (Voice) |
Daredevil: Born Again | 2025 | Lead |
It seems Peter Parker doesn't know exactly who he's been working for in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, though Daredevil delivers a warning that Norman Osborn is hiding something. His compassion toward Spider-Man, who he can tell is just a young hero trying to do what's right, proves why Daredevil is such a fan-favorite in the MCU, while also hinting at the pair perhaps teaming up in future seasons of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Daredevil continues to show he knows right from wrong, and this will be put to the test in live-action in Marvel's upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series.
5 “You’re Busted, Bowl Cut. Iron Man To The Rescue.”
Tony Stark In Episode 8, “Tangled Web”
Since Spider-Man failed to apprehend the Scorpion and track down Dr. Otto Octavius' operation so spectacularly, Norman Osborn called in other helping hands to take in the twisted scientist Octavius. Secretary Ross arrived to arrest Octavius, but while Ross' forces were taken down by Octavius' robotic arms, the villain surrendered in the face of Iron Man. It's hard to imagine Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark ever uttering the words, "Iron Man to the rescue," but Mick Wingert's declaration as Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man's Iron Man was exhilarating.
Robert Downey Jr. has been confirmed to be returning to the MCU, but not as Iron Man. Instead, he'll portray the villainous Doctor Doom in 2026's Avengers: Doomsday and 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars, while he's also speculated to appear in The Fantastic Four: First Steps and even Spider-Man 4.
Even six years after Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark sacrificed himself in Avengers: Endgame, Iron Man continues to be a central figure in the MCU and Marvel's Multiverse Saga stories. In the MCU, Iron Man continued to operate under the Sokovia Accords, so his appearance in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man made sense for the timeline, and it was brilliant to hear his witty nickname for Octavius: "Bowl Cut." Iron Man's appearance reminds us of his relationship to Peter Parker in live-action, and underlines the fact that the pair are not connected in the animated series.
4 “I Believe That Things That Are Supposed To Happen Always Find A Way To Happen. Sometimes They Make Sense, Sometimes They Don’t, And Sometimes They Really, Really Hurt.”
Peter Parker In Episode 10, “If This Be My Destiny…”
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episode 9 wrapped up the main plot threads of the series' first season, ending Spider-Man's battle against the Scorpion. However, the season finale, "If This Be My Destiny...," saw Norman Osborn begin to display his more nefarious tendencies, as he revealed that Oscorp's interns had secretly been providing the necessary technology to open a gateway to outer space. Doctor Strange arrived to battle a Symbiote that came through this portal, and it was revealed his time traveling caused Peter Parker to be bitten by a spider injected with Spider-Man's own blood.
Doctor Strange, voiced by Robin Atkin Downes in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and Peter Parker met up after the battle at Midtown High and Oscorp to discuss the wild paradox that allowed Parker to become Spider-Man. Parker notes that the "things that are supposed to happen always find a way to happen," suggesting his evolution into Spider-Man was his destiny. This proves how much Parker has matured over the duration of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 1, and he then declares he is ready to take on whatever comes next.
3 “Having Power Also Means Having A Lot Of Enemies. It’s One Thing To Risk Your Own Life, But It’s Another Thing To Be Willing To Risk The People Closest To You.”
Harry Osborn In Episode 7, “Scorpion Rising”
The most dramatic scenes of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episode 7, "Scorpion Rising," saw Spider-Man take on the titular Scorpion and end up seriously injured. However, another plot thread followed Harry Osborn and Nico Minoru bonding in the wake of the latter finding out about Peter Parker's superhero alter ego. At the end of their day together, Nico states that while she is "Gucci" with Osborn, she hasn't yet forgiven Peter for lying to her. Osborn helps her come to terms, however, by noting that Parker hid his identity to protect her.

Marvel Finally Gave Us A Proper Street Level Project In The MCU And I Can't Wait To See More
Ironically, the MCU's recent use of the multiverse has finally given us a proper street-level project, and I'm excited to see where it's going next.
Harry Osborn quickly became a firm friend to Peter Parker after his life was saved by Spider-Man in episode 1, and this bond was put front-and-center when Osborn took it upon himself to try and mend the divide between Parker and Nico Minoru. Osborn's keen insight into the life of Spider-Man, being the wall-crawler's "dude at the desk," means he is uniquely qualified to answer exactly why Parker kept his superhero identity secret, even from his best friend. This moment certainly helps Nico eventually forgive Parker, which sets them up to have an even closer friendship in future seasons.
2 “May, I Just Want To Say Thank You. Things Have Been Different Without Having Uncle Ben Around, But You’ve Always Been Here For Me.”
Peter Parker In Episode 1, “Amazing Fantasy.”
Tom Holland's Peter Parker has been around in the MCU for almost a decade, yet Uncle Ben and his mysterious death prior to Spider-Man's debut in Captain America: Civil War have seldom been mentioned. This meant that it carried more weight when Peter Parker and Aunt May directly discussed losing Ben in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man's premiere. Peter took this moment on the car ride to school to thank May for taking such good care of him, and this short speech made May visibly emotional, which was beautiful to see.
Typically, Uncle Ben is killed by a criminal whom Spider-Man previously avoided stopping, not thinking it to be his responsibility. The fact that Peter Parker not stopping this criminal directly leads to Ben's murder pushes him to become an even stronger and more determined Spider-Man.
The connection between Peter Parker and Aunt May in both Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and in the live-action MCU has been touching ever since their debuts. May's death in Spider-Man: No Way Home was devastating for Parker and for us, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is also gearing up for more emotional moments between the pair, what with the reveal of Richard Parker's survival in the season finale. Whatever the future holds, it was truly touching to see Peter thank his selfless Aunt for everything she does.
1 “With Great Power Comes Great Respect, And If You Don’t Have Respect, You Have Nothing.”
Norman Osborn In Episode 8, “Tangled Web”
While it's typically Uncle Ben who states, "With great power comes great responsibility," and Aunt May delivered the line, "With great power, there must also come great responsibility," in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Norman Osborn was given this honor in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. However, Norman Osborn put a villainous twist on this iconic Spider-Man quote by replacing "responsibility" with "respect," proving exactly what his priorities are. This teases an evil future for the Oscorp CEO in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 and beyond.

Why Norman Osborn Isn't In The MCU's Spider-Man Movies Despite His MCU Debut
Norman Osborn just made his MCU debut in Your Friendly Neighborhood, despite not being in any of Marvel Studios and Sony's Spider-Man movies.
What makes this line even more powerful and terrifying is that Peter Parker takes it to heart, and Harry Osborn defending his father's words cement the need for respect as a necessity for Spider-Man. This could open the door for a darker version of the wall-crawler to operate in future seasons of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, one doing heroic deeds to earn respect rather than out of a sense of responsibility. This is a thrilling and haunting prospect that means we can't wait for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man to continue.
