10 Glaringly Obvious Team-Ups Marvel Rivals Needs To Add ASAP
One of the elements unique to Marvel Rivalsis the team-up abilities, which provide characters with buffs if two or more characters needed for a specific team-up are selected. This can only work for a hero shooter based in a pre-established universe, since there needs to be known pre-existing relationships between characters for the team-ups to make sense. Some can be obvious, like The Fantastic Four having a team-up, while others are more obscure, like Luna Snow and Iron Fist being former members of the Agents of Atlas, leading to their team-up.
Because the majority of these team-up abilities work using pre-existing relationships, NetEast added a few through pure logic. Luna Snow doesn't have strong comic ties to either Namor or Jeff, but with both using water-based abilities, it makes sense to buff them by adding cold damage. The same sort of applies to The Human Torch and Storm, since they have interacted in comics but aren't known as a solid duo, yet both make tornadoes, so the team-up makes sense. Still, there are more obvious team-ups that Marvel Rivals is yet to add that honor past character relationships.
10 Magneto And Wolverine's Remote Fastball Special
Wolverine Does Spend Most Of The Time Being Thrown By Magneto
Wolverine is known for his near invulnerability, but he is distinctly weak to Magneto, thanks to his adamantium skeleton, often getting thrown around like a ragdoll. This happens all the time in comics, animated series, and films, so it is a little odd that it doesn't happen in Marvel Rivals. Magneto even references this when talking about Wolverine's Fastball Special with Colossus (although he does this in game with The Thing and Hulk), saying that he is one of the few that can throw them both.
Although Magneto looks older, Wolverine is his elder, and while his birthdate changes from medium to medium, he is well over 100 years old.
This seems like an easy thing to add, having Magneto be able to throw Wolverine similarly to how The Thing and Hulk do, except with the power of magnetism. This can be taken a step further by making it remote, so that Magneto can throw Wolverine as long as he is in sight, making it an effective way to get Wolverine in and out of a fight. It might also be quite jarring without good co-ordination, although that is where some of the fun can come in too, since Magneto and Wolverine are famous enemies.
9 Thor And Hulk's Thunderclap
The Mightest Duo In The Avengers
Thor and Hulk tend to be the strongest among the usual cast of the Avengers and are often paired together in many circumstances. They were a legendary duo in Thor: Ragnarok, often arguing about who is the mightiest Avenger, and this is a debate that is often seen in the comics too. They fight a lot, but they also seem to have a solid friendship, which is most overtly seen in the Avengers Assemble animated series, where the two have a brotherly bond based around competition.
To honor this bond, a team-up that gives Hulk a buff to his clap ability makes sense. This could be similar to the Thor-Force team-up with Captain America and Storm, giving Hulk's clap some lightning-enhancing force. It could even go the other way and let Thor have some gamma-enhanced strikes, but team-ups tend to be one-way buffs and Hulk seems like he needs one given that he gives one of the strongest to Iron Man and Dr Stranger, yet doesn't get anything in return.
8 Captain America And Iron Man's Reflecting Unibeam
An Avengers Special That'd Be Perfect
Captain America and Iron Man are two of the pillars of the Avengers, and their disagreement caused the Civil War event in both the comics and the MCU. Still, the pair are good friends and both leaders of the Avengers in different ways. It also helps that Howard Stark effectively made Steve Rogers Captain America in the MCU, so the pair have a bond that stretches generations, yet these two don't have a team-up ability.

Marvel Rivals Lore Will Become Ridiculous If We Never Fight On Doom’s Side
Doctor Doom is meant to be the main foe in Marvel Rivals. But, the map stories have found ways for the heroes to just fight amongst themselves.
During the first Avengers movie, Iron Man fights alongside Captain America by shooting his Unibeam at his shield, reflecting it at the Chitauri forces before flying away. It's a brief moment, but it could be the basis for a team-up that allows them to do the same in Rivals. Iron Man has his Unibeam in the game and Cap's shield does reflect, so the team-up could allow Iron Man to shoot at Cap, and he can aim it on the ground towards enemies, since he is often in the front lines or diving the enemy team's back line.
7 Venom Symbiote Bonded Jeff
Jeff Got A Symbiote During The Venom War
Jeff hasn't been a long-standing presence compared to other comic characters, but he has got around and interacted with most of the famous faces in Marvel. He's hung out with the Pet Avengers, trashed Tony Stark's lab, stolen Captain America's shield, and swiped Dr Strange's Eye of Agamoto, yet his funniest interaction is with Venom during the Venom War collaboration. During this event, Jeff bonds with the Venom symbiote and is able to communicate with it quite well, with the issue ending with the Land Shark rolling Venom up like a yoga mat.
Jeff first appeared in West Coast Avengers in 2019, but got his own series titled It's Jeff.
As one of the hosts of Venom, Jeff could get a team-up with him in the game. This could be a buff to his ult, giving him a shield like when Venom uses his ultimate, or Jeff receives a push-back ability similar to Luna Snow's team-up with Iron Fist, except symbiote tendrils fly out to swat enemies away. With the changes and complaints around Jeff's ult, the push-back ability is probably the safer bet, giving Jeff more ways to get out of a sticky situation.
6 Dr Strange And Scarlet Witch's Dream Walking
A Little Nod To The Multiverse Of Madness
Dr. Stange and Scarlet Witch are probably two of the most prominent magicians in Marvel, and even star in a film together based around their relationships with magic, The Multiverse of Madness. They spend most of the film as enemies, but do share an ability to inhabit different versions of themselves from different universes. This ability is called Dreamwalking, and Doctor Strange even uses this to inhabit a dead version of himself to fight Wanda during the film's climax.
Dr. Strange reviving behind enemy lines while they advance to ult would be an effective strategy.
This team-up ability could be called Dreamwalking and allow the pair to revive faster so long as the other is still alive. When killed, they could Dreamwalk into their dead bodies, reviving where they died faster than respawning and running back to the fight. This would mean that players have to be careful not to revive while the enemy team is there, since they would instantly die, but Dr. Strange reviving behind enemy lines while they advance to ult would be an effective strategy.
5 The Thing And Mr. Fantastic's Beach Ball
The Thing Can Throw Practically Anything, So Why Not Reed?
Ben Grimm and Reed Richards are best friends despite being so different in personality. They met during their freshman year, where Reed told Ben about his intentions to go into space, and with Ben becoming a pilot, this eventually led to the mission which gave The Fantastic Four their powers. Mr. Fantastic is the brains of the operation, The Thing is the brawn, and while their relationship isn't as obvious as other dynamics in The Fantastic Four, it doesn't make it any less strong.
Still, The Thing likes to throw things and Mr. Fantastic can morph into practically anything with his elastic powers, so why not become a ball? The Thing can already throw Wolverine, and this could give Mr. Fantastic a way to get into a fight quickly, given his short range and half-tank-half-dps kit. The Thing can jump in right after him, allowing the pair to quickly join a fight after spawning, and it could be a funny way for Mr Fantastic to deal with flying foes, although it probably won't be as effective as tossing Wolverine at them.
4 Groot Shielding Star Lord
Referencing One Of The Coolest Moments In Guardians 3
As members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Groot and Star Lord have quite a few options for team-up abilities, and while the pair aren't as tight-knit as Groot and Rocket, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 separated Rocket from the rest of the group, allowing the audience to see different dynamics. Groot and Star Lord especially shone when fighting together on the High Evolutionary's ship, with Groot shielding Star Lord throughout. This is even referenced in Rivals as one of Star Lord's MVP animations.
In the comics, Groot is a Flora Colossus from Planet X.
This could be a team-up in Marvel Rivals, with Groot able to shield Star Lord when he's nearby, either by giving him small walls to hide behind when nearby or actual blue shield health. It could make Groot a safety checkpoint for Star Lord to come back to whenever he's in trouble and encourage players to return to the team when things get dicey. It will also be another reference to one of the coolest scenes in Guardians 3.
3 The Human Torch And Spider-Man's Flaming Webs
Two Of New York's Best Buddies
Although it isn't one of the better-known friendships in Marvel, Johnny Storm and Peter Parker are really close friends. Peter has even bunked in the Baxter Building a few times, with both living in New York. This friendship is best seen when Johnny 'dies' (he gets better) and he chooses Spider-Man to take his place in The Fantastic Four, and this feels like a natural decision given how comfortable Spider-Man is with Marvel's First Family.
Originally being the teen heroes of their day, The Human Torch and Spider-Man began as rivals, but that rivalry became a close friendship as time went on.
This strong friendship is referenced through Spider-Man and The Human Torch's interactions in Marvel Rivals, yet it doesn't extend far enough for them to have a team-up. Their webs and flames had combined before to prank The Thing, and they could see Spider-Man's ult buffed where those caught in his webs also leave behind Blazing Blast AOEs for Johnny to use. He can then slam into foes or burn up those who Spider-Man was unable to originally take out.
2 Spider-Man And Doctor Strange's Perfect Geometry
Making Sure Enemies Find No Way Home
After the death of Iron Man in the MCU, Dr. Strange took on a mentor-like role for Spider-Man in No Way Home, but the pair clashed heads after disagreeing about how to deal with villains from other universes. During their fight, Spider-Man uses geometry with his webs to defeat Strange, figuring out that the Mirror dimension is just math, and this could get a reference in Marvel Rivals. Although there isn't a Mirror Dimension mechanic, the closest thing would be Dr. Strange's portals.
While a portal is open, Spider-Man can see a buff where he is mirrored, and he surrounds an enemy with mini-portals, allowing him to hit them more than once. In this mode, he wouldn't be able to web and pull people, but he could multiply his damage for a short time. Alternatively, it could be a buff to his Get Over Here ability and allow him to stun foes for longer periods by trapping them in multiple webs with mini portals coming up, similar to how he trapped Strange in No Way Home, giving allies an easy kill.
1 Captain America & Black Widow's Jump Boost
Black Widow Really Needs Some Help
One of the strongest friendships cultivated in the MCU that has gone under the radar is the relationship between Captain America and Black Widow. While Steve Rogers was always a straight arrow, Natasha teasing him throughout her run in the MCU was always fun, but when it came time to fight, the pair were very well coordinated. Whenever they fought together in the Avengers films, they demonstrated great teamwork, and one of their first instances came in the fight against the Chitauri, where Cap launched Black Widow into the air with his shield.

Marvel Rivals: Every Duelist Character, Ranked From Weakest To Strongest
Marvel Rivals is a competitive game that has a variety of roles and heroes, and some Duelists are much stronger than other, less effective ones.
Although branded as a sniper, Black Widow is strangely effective at close range, with a dangerous kill combo that involves her melee attacks. Captain America launching her straight up could be a way to use this combo on fliers or get to high points effectively to snipe. It helps her be less stationary, and if any character inMarvel Rivals needs a bit of help right now, it's Black Widow. She is one of the weaker Duelists and while this team-up wouldn't change that, it wouldn't hurt either.
