10 Strongest Normal-Type Pokémon in Pokémon GO
One of the more underrated types in Pokémon GO is Normal, but these kinds of Pokémon can be among the strongest in the game. Normal-types are few in number but are usually extremely bulky Pokémon who have far more HP than your average pocket monster. While their type isn't super-effective against anything, a few Normal-types also have additional attributes that allow them to be fierce combatants.
Any Pokémon using Normal-type moves without the Normal typing loses out on the Same Type Attack Bonus (S.T.A.B.). While attacks like Giga Impact or Hyper Beam are present on many powerful or Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO, it's better to use these moves with a true Normal-type. In any case, Normal-type moves are usually not resisted, making them more useful with S.T.A.B.
10 Staraptor
Brave Bird Of Sinnoh
Max CP | Attack | Defense | Stamina | Weaknesses | DPS | TDO |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
3194 CP | 234 ATK | 140 DEF | 198 HP | Electric, Ice, Rock | 12.34 | 167.4 |
Staraptor is a strong Normal-/Flying-type that evolves from Starly, one of the most common Pokémon you'll find in Pokémon GO. The easy availability of Staraptor through the accumulation of Starly Cany may cause players to undervalue its strength, but this Pokémon has extremely high attacking power compared to other Normal-types. With great Damage Per Second (DPS) and Total Damage Output (TDO), Staraptor is a solid choice for any team.

10 Strongest Flying-Type Pokémon in Pokémon GO
Flying-type Pokemon are some of the best dual types in Pokémon GO and by using the best ones such as Rayquaza in battle you can dominate opponents.
One advantage Staraptor has over other Normal-types is that its additional Flying-type can target more enemy weaknesses. Grass, Bug, and Fighting-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO fall easily to a high CP Staraptor, especially in raids or trainer battles. However, this strength is also Staraptor's greatest vulnerability, as having the Flying-type gives the bird Pokémon more weaknesses that can be risky with lackluster Defense.
9 Wyrdeer
Counter Normal-Type Weaknesses
Max CP | Attack | Defense | Stamina | Weaknesses | DPS | TDO |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
3089 CP | 206 ATK | 145 DEF | 230 HP | Bug, Dark | 13.41 | 215.96 |
While Wyrdeer may not appear like anything special on the surface, this Normal-/Psychic type has a hidden advantage most Normal-types don't. Wyrdeer does not have any weakness to the Fighting-type, which is typically the direct counter to Normal-types. While this existed for Staraptor as well, Wyrdeer has higher Stamina HP to hard counter Fighting-types by resisting their damage rather than normalizing it.
When taking less damage from a Fighting-type, Wyrdeer can immediately counter with above-average damage from Psychic-type moves. While not the strongest Psychic-type in Pokémon GO, Wyrdeer's Psychic or Zen Headbutt attacks can easily defeat an over-eager Fighting-type who thought they'd get an easy K.O.
8 Blissey
Stall For Time With Amazing Bulk
Max CP | Attack | Defense | Stamina | Weaknesses | DPS | TDO |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
3117 CP | 129 ATK | 169 DEF | 496 HP | Fighting | 9.61 | 371.29 |
Anyone who's played any sort of competitive Pokémon game before will recognize Blissey, who may have the highest Stamina of any Pokémon. The HP alone on Blissey is ridiculous, far exceeding even some of the more powerful Legendaries that exist in Pokémon GO. In trainer fights I've done against a Blissey, I almost always needed a Fighting-type on my team just to do any meaningful damage.
Blissey is capable of learning Electric-, Fairy-, and Psychic-types moves to give it extra versatility. The ability to learn strong moves outside their type is an often overlooked trait of Normal-type Pokémon.
While Blissey has a very high TDO and one of the biggest Stamina stats among any Pokémon, they, unfortunately, are not too strong in other categories. For example, Blissey has very low Attack, so it is more of a wall than something that can take out enemy Pokémon. Blissey is a useful Normal-type for stalling, taking hits and giving you time to come up with a winning strategy.
7 Bewear
Balanced Offense That Lasts
Max CP | Attack | Defense | Stamina | Weaknesses | DPS | TDO |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
3524 CP | 226 ATK | 141 DEF | 260 HP | Fairy, Fighting, Flying, Psychic | 13.45 | 273.11 |
Bewear is a Normal-/Fighting-type that has multiple bad type match-ups like Staraptor, but this Pokémon has more advantages than the Sinnoh bird. With a very high Attack stat, Bewear has offense power that is hard to find on Normal-types, rejecting the more defensive nature of the typing. However, Bewear doesn't completely abandon tropes, as it also has high Stamina to help it win wars of attrition.
Everything about Bewear emphasizes balance in its HP and Attack, giving it strong ways to win against other aggressive Pokémon. With S.T.A.B. on its Fighting-type moves, Bewear can deal super-effective damage against other Normal-types, almost existing as a counter to bulkier Pokémon like Blissey. With its higher health, Bewear can outlast opponents through its higher HP without sacrificing damage output.
6 Mega Kangaskhan
Versatile Stats With Multiple Moves Of Different Types
Max CP | Attack | Defense | Stamina | Weaknesses | DPS | TDO |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
4353 CP | 246 ATK | 210 DEF | 233 HP | Fighting | 12.81 | 293.79 |
Mega Evolutions in Pokémon GO usually lead to strong combatants, with Mega Kangaskhan being no exception. This Pokémon stands out among Normal-types with high stats all around, lacking nothing in any category. While not breaking the mold with a larger Attack like Bewear or insane Stamina like Blissey, Mega Kangaskhan has no real vulnerabilities based on its stat values.
Mega Lopunny is another excellent Normal-type Mega evolution. Although it has brittle HP, Mega Lopunny has the highest raw attacking power among Normal-type Pokemon.
Another unique advantage to Mega Kangaskhan is the depth of its move pool. This Pokémon can learn Ground-, Dragon-, and Fighting-type moves in addition to the Normal-type attacks that already make it strong. While it doesn't receive S.T.A.B. from moves like Earthquake or Outrage, these can be useful moves to help counter strong Pokémon weak to the damage those types of attacks inflict.
5 Shadow Porygon-Z
The Most Effective Normal-Type Damage Dealer
Max CP | Attack | Defense | Stamina | Weaknesses | DPS | TDO |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
3693 CP | 264 ATK | 150 DEF | 198 HP | Fighting | 17.30 | 208.22 |
Porygon-Z is the Normal-type who gets the biggest benefits from S.T.A.B. moves from its elemental affinity. As the Normal-type Pokémon with the second-highest Attack stat of its type, Porygon-Z is all about delivering devastating damage to its rivals, especially with moves like Tri-Beam or Hyper Beam. The DPS of this Pokémon is absurd, helping tear through enemy health with little to no effort.
Shadow Pokémon are stronger variants of standard Pokémon forms, boasting higher stats. While Shadow Pokémon in Pokémon GO are harder to collect, they are much stronger picks for your team.
Despite Porygon-Z's poor Defense and Stamina compared to other Normal-types, it has a move pool that prioritizes higher damage than other Pokémon. For example, Porygon-Z can use Zap Cannon or Blizzard to delete an unsuspecting Pokémon who wasn't aware Porygon-Z could target an Electric- or Ice-type weakness. With moves like Solar Beam also in its arsenal, Porygon-Z is a wild card that goes against what you'd expect in a Normal-type.
4 Shadow Ursaluna
High Damage Output To Counter Meta Picks
Max CP | Attack | Defense | Stamina | Weaknesses | DPS | TDO |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
4358 CP | 243 ATK | 181 DEF | 277 HP | Fighting, Grass, Water, Ice | 17.52 | 343.39 |
Another Pokémon that prioritizes offense is Shadow Ursaluna, which has similar stats to Shadow Porygon-Z. However, Ursaluna has much higher HP through a better Stamina score, allowing it to stay alive longer in drawn-out battles. Ursaluna is a Normal-/Ground-type, giving it ways to attack more Pokemon with super-effective damage.

10 Strongest Ground-Type Pokémon in Pokémon GO
Ground types in Pokémon GO are reliable, consistent, and annoying to deal with. While there are many fine options, these are the best of the best.
The Ground-type is very powerful against Steel-type Pokémon, as seen in the meta of Pokémon GO's Battle or Master Leagues. Ursaluna can use S.T.A.B. damage from Ground moves to inflict high damage on high-defense Pokémon, giving it a unique advantage over many creatures seen in PvP or Raids. With moves like Trailblaze, Ice Punch, Fire Punch, and even Aerial Ace, Ursaluna can outlast rivals and K.O. them fast.
3 Regigigas
Slow Start Masks Undeniable Strength
Max CP | Attack | Defense | Stamina | Weaknesses | DPS | TDO |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
4913 CP | 287 ATK | 210 DEF | 221 HP | Fighting | 17.45 | 380.77 |
One of the most infamous Normal-types is Regigigas, the Legendary king of the Regi trio. This Pokémon is a favorite of mine, as I use it often in as many battles as I can. However, even I can't deny that this Pokémon's Slow Start weakness hinders it by lowering stats for a few turns before it can realize its full potential.
There are several ways to negate Slow Start, which cuts Regigigas' Attack and Speed stats by half for the first five turns of a battle. When using this Pokémon, your team has to focus on negating this ability as soon as possible.
Even with Slow Start, Regigigas is one of the strongest Normal-types in the game simply from its abnormally high Defense and Total Damage Output. Even with its Attack lowered, Regigigas can cleave through rival Pokémon with moves like Giga Impact, Zen Headbutt, or Focus Blast. With only one weakness, Regigigas can be a bulwark tank that is extremely hard to take down under the right circumstances.
2 Aria Forme Meloetta
Good At (Almost) Everything
Max CP | Attack | Defense | Stamina | Weaknesses | DPS | TDO |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
4490 CP | 250 ATK | 225 DEF | 225 HP | Bug, Dark | 15.29 | 361.98 |
Aria Forme Meloetta can do just about everything as a Normal-/Psychic type in Pokémon GO, from attacking targets to defending itself from enemy strikes. Meloetta is similar to Wyrdeer, using its dual typing to remove a Normal-type's typical Fighting-type weakness. However, unlike Wyrdeer, Meloetta has far better stats to back up its removed vulnerability with very balanced stats combined with high DPS and TDO.
Psychic, Fairy, and Electric-type attacks are all moves Meloetta can use, but Normal-type S.T.A.B. through Hyper Beam gives it an even better edge in battle. The power behind Meloetta's attacks cannot be understated, as this Pokémon has the strength to inflict consistent damage on every strike, no matter where you use it to fight.
1 Arceus (Normal)
The God Lives Up To Their Name
Max CP | Attack | Defense | Stamina | Weaknesses | DPS | TDO |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
4510 CP | 238 ATK | 238 DEF | 237 HP | Fighting | 13.46 | 352.67 |
Unsurprisingly, Arceus (Normal) is arguably the best Normal-type Pokémon you could use, but not just due to its Legendary status. This god-like pocket monster has an almost even stat distribution, with equal Attack, Defense, and Stamina scores. With all of these stats being high, it gives Arceus no exploitable weaknesses for rival trainers to target.

Pokémon GO: Scattered To The Winds Event Guide
The All Scattered In The Wild Event in Pokémon GO brings with it bonuses and three debuting shiny versions of Pokémon, making it one not to miss.
Although Meloetta has better attacking power, Arceus combines all the best qualities of Normal-types together. Arceus can be used as an attacking power, a tank, or a stall Pokémon in equal measure, combining the best traits of other Normal-types like Porygon-Z, Blissey, or Regigigas. With moves like Shadow Claw, Outrage, Iron Tail, and Future Sight, Arceus can also use diverse moves to target multiple weaknesses.
The sole Fighting-type weakness of Arceus makes it less vulnerable as well, adding to its defensive qualities. The strongest Normal-type Pokémon in Pokémon GO are those with so much balance in their traits that opponents can rarely counter them, allowing them to fulfill whatever role you need in a team.
