At first, she thought nothing of it, but later learned she needed surgery. Recovery made it impossible to exercise or even move around, so she didn't lose as much weight as she wanted to.

One night, she was hanging out with her family and her boyfriend, Leonard E. Moore, when things took a turn for the worse. She started to feel ill and suddenly blacked out.
