The Slaton family, who rose to prominence as stars of the unscripted series 1000-Lb Sisters, haven't always been lucky in love, and here are eight of their standout romances. The show premiered in 2020 and recently aired its sixth season. It centers around the weight-loss journeys of 37-year-old Amy Slaton and her 38-year-old sister, Tammy Slaton, but the whole family is a part of the story. Though the unscripted series is mostly about weight-loss, the personal lives of the Slatons have also been entertainment fodder. Over the years, some of the Slatons have had tumultuous love lives, and they haven't all had the best romantic luck. 8 Tammy & Phillip

It Ended With A Restraining Order

Tammy had a string of bad relationships long before the premiere of 1000-lb Sisters, but Phillip Redmond was her worst boyfriend ever. Tammy met Phillip in a BBW chatroom, where he went by the name "The BBW King." Phillip had a fetish for obese women, which Tammy's family saw as a threat to her weight-loss journey. Tammy prioritized her relationship over her weight-loss goals, putting on even more weight during her relationship with Phillip. Though Phillip told Tammy that he supported her desire to lose weight, he was adamant about not wanting her to be under 300 pounds.

Later, during 1000-lb Sisters season 3, Tammy and Phillip had a falling out, and Tammy alleged that he and his friends were harassing her. Things got so bad that Tammy got a restraining order against Phillip. In a moment of weakness, for a while, it seemed like the relationship was over, but Tammy went back to Phillip briefly. Thankfully, their brief reconciliation didn't last.

7 Amy & Michael

Married & Divorced

Amy and Michael Halterman were newlyweds when 1000-lb Sisters premiered. Amy weighed over 400 pounds, but decided to lose weight so she could have children. After four years of marriage and two children together, Michael filed for divorce from Amy. The couple's separation was sad because Michael had been a constant on 1000-lb Sisters. He was always by Amy's side and was even a big help to Tammy before she lost all of her weight.

Whenever they went anywhere together, it was Michael pushing Tammy's wheelchair, or driving her around. Amy and Michael always seemed happy, but things changed soon after their two sons, Gage and Glenn Halterman, were born. Amy and Michael's problems were revealed during 1000-lb Sisters season 5, and Michael filed for divorce from Amy in March 2023.

6 Amanda & Jason

Then She Dated RJ

44-year-old Amanda Halterman didn't appear on the show until 1000-lb Sisters season 4, because she had been going through a divorce from her husband, Jason Halterman. Funnily enough, Jason was the brother of Amy's ex-husband, Michael. In other words, two sisters married two brothers, and then divorced them.

After her divorce, Amanda jumped back into the deep end of the dating pool.

After dating around, Amanda met and fell in love with RJ. During 1000-lb Sisters season 6, Amanda announced she'd be moving from Kentucky to Florida to be with him. In June 2024, Amanda posted a TikTok about how RJ had ghosted her completely. According to Amanda's TikTok, her boyfriend left town to visit his family and never returned. She tried contacting him, to no avail. With her heart broken, Amanda packed up her things and headed back to her family in Kentucky.

5 Misty & David

Married To Her First Husband

Unlike the rest of the Slatons, 48-year-old Misty Wentworth has been married to her husband, David Wentworth, for 23 years, and they have four sons. While the rest of her sisters are hot-headed, Misty is seen as the calm, rational force within the family. Her calm, even-keeled demeanor has likely contributed to the fact that she has such a long, happy marriage. It probably also helps that her husband never appears on the show, so he stays far away from the drama. Like the rest of the Slatons, Misty has achieved impressive weight-loss goals. She went in for bariatric surgery in March, with her sister, Amanda. The two Slaton sisters are so close that they had bariatric surgery on the same day, and with the same surgeon. Misty revealed her slimmed-down figure during 1000-lb Sisters season 6, and she revealed that she was able to completely stop relying on diabetes medication.

4 Tammy & Jerry

He Was Married With Children

Tammy met Jerry Sykes several years before the premiere of 1000-lb Sisters. They met in a BBW chatroom and talked for several years before Jerry came to Kentucky to visit Tammy. Tammy's family didn't approve of her relationship with Jerry, who they thought was a "feeder." Jerry had a terrible diet and ate a lot of junk food around Tammy, which made it hard for her to stick to her diet.

Amy confessed that she disliked Jerry because Tammy "needs somebody that’s gonna motivate her in this weight loss, not just want her to stay the way she is."

Making matters worse, Jerry was a married man with seven children. In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Jerry's now ex-wife, Kia Russell-Rucker Sykes, said she learned about the affair when the show aired. She also accused Tammy of knowing Jerry was married with children, but dated him anyway. Though Tammy and Jerry broke up during season 2, they had a brief affair during season 3. Kia divorced Jerry soon after, explaining, “I don’t think I can forgive him anymore.”

A few short months after announcing her separation from her husband, Michael, Amy was already dating a new man. The 1000-lb Sisters star started dating Tony Rodgers. The two got serious quickly, and she even started sharing photos of Tony holding her sons. The relationship didn't last long, and by the end of 2023, Amy and Tony had gone their separate ways.

Soon after breaking up with Tony, Amy starts seeing a new man named Kevin. This time, Amy didn't introduce her sons to Kevin. She had learned her lesson and wanted to take things more slowly. The relationship was over after only one month of dating, and Amy accused Kevin of using her for fame. After things ended with Tony, Amy pumped the brakes on her search for love. She focused instead on raising her little boys. She recently started dating someone new, a man named Bryan, and the relationship seems promising.

After Amanda's breakup with RJ, she briefly dated another man, but, since it ended before she went public with the relationship, his identity remains unknown. Recently, Amanda posted a TikTok announcing her new relationship. The post is a photo of Amanda and her new boyfriend, who appears to be named Leonard E. Moore. "Three months and a lifetime to go," reads Amanda's caption. After dating for three months, Amanda finally felt like she could go public with her relationship.

1000-lb Sisters fans were thrilled for Amanda and took to the comment section with well-wishes.

Amanda often responds to fans in the comment section, and she did so this time. When one comment pointed out that Amanda looked happy, she replied "I am." Another fan had a question, writing "I'm so confused. Some posts say she's not with him and that he ghosted her and now she's back in Kentucky...what's the real story?" Amanda responded directly, writing, "Rj did ghost me. I came back to Ky. Dated one other dude for a very short time and met mellow 3 months ago."
