15 Years Later, One Of The Best Xbox 360 Games May Be Coming To Game Pass, & You Should Totally Play It

There are always new games getting added toXbox Game Pass, but not all of them are hits. However, there is one game rumored to be coming to the platform that has been overlooked for quite some time. While it is still speculation, there is enough credibility to the rumor that should make many Xbox players excited and allow them to play one of the great games that has been forgotten for some time.

While there are many new releases on Xbox Game Pass, like Indiana Jones & The Great Circle most recently, older games get added every month as well. There are plenty of games that come and go from the platform, but some of the older games are more exciting than others. If rumors are to be believed, this exciting game might be one of them quite soon.

Singularity May Be Coming To Xbox Game Pass

A Rumor Implies That The 2010 Sleeper Hit Might Return Soon

According to X user eXtas1s, Singularity might be coming to Xbox Game Pass quite soon. According to him, both Singularity and Call of Duty: World At War will be coming to Xbox Game Pass in May 2025. As always, rumors are subject to skepticism, but this is not the first time players have heard of Singularity potentially coming to Game Pass.

Back in September, Singularity made a surprise return to the Xbox store after being absent since the Xbox 360 store closed in 2012. At the time, it was only reintroduced to the PC version of the Xbox Store, and it has only remained there ever since. However, its surprise return sparked debate at the time as to why it wasn’t released on Game Pass and if its absence meant it would be coming soon.

While this is still not guaranteed, together the rumor from a known source and the strange circumstances between the game’s reappearance suggest a strong possibility of its return. Older games added to Xbox Game Pass can be a great thing, as it is one of the only ways that they are able to be brought onto newer consoles that are not backward compatible. While it is by no means perfect, it is one of the benefits of the platform.

Why Singularity Was One Of The Best Games On Xbox 360

Great Gameplay, A Unique Mechanic & A Polished Finish

Singularity was released in 2010 and is a first-person shooter that also features elements of survival horror. Upon release, it undersold, but the gameplay mechanics, unique time-sequences, and fewer bugs made it a solid game. At the time, it seemed particularly polished, and it has been compared to a lot of other heavy hitters.

It seems like the game was forgotten, despite having overall positive reviews. At the time, developer Activision failed to market the game well, and games like Halo and Call of Duty took attention away from other first-person shooters. Having somewhat unique mechanics like the time manipulation and the setting not being as recognizable might have something to do with it as well, but ultimately, poor marketing is the most likely culprit. Another potential issue was that the game did follow up the first three STALKER games.

It's possible that this is one reason why it wasn’t marketed better as a radioactive area filled with monsters within the Soviet Union might have seemed repetitive at that time. However, the game feels very different, as while they may share similarities, the time manipulation mechanic is the defining feature of Singularity, leading to fun and unique gameplay and the ability to solve problems by changing time. It continues to get good reviews on Steam to this day, solidifying its place as one of the best FPS games on Xbox 360.

Why You Should Play Singularity If It Comes To Game Pass

Never A Better Time To Give Singularity A Chance

There are many reasons why playing Singularity is a great thing to do should it come to Game Pass. If nothing else, the fact that it has been missing from the platform for so long should give players incentive to try it just for curiosity’s sake, but that is not the only reason. Many of the reviews and posts like @SIR_VELOCIRAPTOR’s on Reddit are good examples of people who discovered it and thought it was strange how much it flew under the radar.

Additionally, survival horror is arguably at its peak right now, with many great games coming out in the last year. Games like STALKER 2, Silent Hill 2, and Alone in the Dark were all fairly successful, along with many indie hits as well. It’s a great time to be a fan of the genre, and anyone who is will likely like the flavor of Singularity as well. Singularity also has elements of Sci-Fi, showing fans of games like Dead Space that they have something else to try.

At this point, more games have used time mechanics, but the ability to play a game that grabbed onto time manipulation and encouraged the player to use it early on is exciting in and of itself. If nothing else, it is simply a solid game with a fun mechanic that players will find enjoyable. It is also only about 7 hours to finish, so players have no reason not to give it a try if they think they’ll like the game. It was an overshadowed game whose time to shine has come once again, at least, if it doesn’t get overlooked for Call of Duty a second time.

With the rumor being that Call of Duty: World at War is releasing in May alongside Singularity, there is every chance that it will get overlooked by the same franchise that caused it to get overlooked before. It seems that Singularity is a bit unlucky where that is concerned, but that should make players want to give it a second chance even more. It has the strong appeal of being the underdog, and the benefit of being on Game Pass is that it will also be free.

While players will have to wait until May to see if the rumors are true, the now 15-year-old game might get a breath of fresh air and a second chance at a new life. If it's true, it's possible the multiplayer modes will come back as well, letting players enter combat with each other in addition to completing the main game. There will never be a better chance to try it than if, or when, it comes to Xbox Game Pass.
