MANILA – Adamson University beat University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS), 21-8, 21-15, on Friday to complete the semifinal cast in the girls’ division of the UAAP Season 87 high school beach volleyball tournament at Sands SM by the Bay in Pasay City.

Ella Gonzalvo and Maegan Pineda conquered Janella Guarino and Anya Capus as the Baby Falcons finished fourth in the elimination round with a 2-3 slate.

Meanwhile, National University-Nazareth School's (NUNS) Vilmarie Toos and Faith Mangyao clobbered De La Salle-Zobel's Aislinn Alemaña and Kylie Celada, 21-5, 21-2, to cap the Lady Bullpups’ elimination sweep and forge a Fina Four duel with the Baby Falcons on Sunday.

Defending champion University of Santo Tomas (UST) took the No. 2 ranking after Cheng Dadang and Angelica Del Mar outplayed Far Eastern University-Diliman's (FEU-D) Sheena Cafe and Sheila Pascual, 21-15, 21-10.

The Tiger Sands (4-1) and the Baby Tamaraws (3-2) will meet in the other semifinal match.

In the boys' division, UST downed University of the East while NUNS beat Ateneo de Manila University to book semifinal slots.

The Tiger Sands rolled to their fifth straight win when JM Lagaran and Lance Malinao defeated Junior Warriors Clarence Gianan and Buenaventura Limpin, 21-11, 21-13.

The Bullpups, on the other hand, improved their record to 5-1 for second place.

NUNS's Wayne Dionela and Kian Tan won over Ateneo's Santiago Avila and Kevin Gabia, 21-5, 21-9 in the morning, and returned to the court in the afternoon to beat the UPIS pair of Terren Villanueva and Marcus Bamba, 21-1, 21-13.

Adamson's Brice Malinao and Gian Ygot defeated De La Salle-Zobel's Antonio Papa and Mario Roxas, 21-10, 21-16, for their fourth win against one loss, while FEU-D improved to 3-2 after Zedrick Calimlim and Coronel demolished UPIS' Villanueva and Bamba, 21-6, 21-7. (PNA)
