After 20+ Years, One Piece Is Making Its Creator's Biggest Dream Come True
Warning: SPOILERS ahead for the One Piece chapter 1126Netflix's live-action adaptation of One Piece accomplished author Eiichiro Oda's goal of getting his seminal series widespread recognition, and now the show has made way for another dream of his to come true: a One Piece collaboration with LEGO! The LEGO sets will be based on the Netflix series and showcase iconic moments from the first season, which covered most of the East Blue saga from the manga.
Although there is no release date, LEGO says the collaboration will be expected "ahead of the epic return of the live-action One Piece season 2." The announcement, which came via the live-action series' official social media account, expressed Oda's excitement about the team-up and included a quote and illustration from the artist himself.

Oda's excitement seeps through the artwork as he explains his love for LEGO, describes his own collection, which is piled up at his workplace, and mentions how much he's been asking for a One Piece LEGO toy. The artwork showcases a LEGO version of Luffy extending his arm in his time-skip wardrobe.
He also assures fans that he will indeed be building and displaying the sets before leaving an expressive "Woohoo!!" Oda's love for LEGOs can be seen as far back as One Piece chapter 622, "The Sun God," which showcases a color spread of the Straw Hat Pirates building a castle made of blocks that look exactly like LEGOs.

The One Piece Manga Is In Elbaph, Which Started Differently Than Many Expected
Netflix also released a teaser video for the collaboration that showcases a LEGO version of Luffy's straw hat on the ground and being retrieved by an extended LEGO arm from offscreen. Although the live-action series is only just getting started, the Straw Hat Pirates are already in Elbaph in the manga, which started with the gang in a world made of LEGO-like blocks reminiscent of the chapter 622 color spread.
The gang wakes up in a subsection of Elbaph called the Land of Gods, a huge, closed-off diorama in a castle where humans live with giant animals, which they consider gods. Road built the location, who called himself the Sun God, which is the name of chapter 622. There could be a connection between blocks and the Sun God that has something to do with the myth or abilities of the Hito Hito no Mi: Model Nika. Though it's unclear what connection the two have at this time, what is clear is that fans have every reason to get pumped for One Piece's upcoming LEGO set.
