After a Decade, Mark Millar's Very Own Superman Is Ready to Make a Comeback
Mark Millarhas announced his next "Millarworld" series, starring his version of Superman, Huck, coming this year from publisher Dark Horse Comics. After Millar tied decades worth of separate stories together into a shared universe with 2023's Big Game crossover, he has continued to promise ambitions plans for the continuity's next era; now, it is clear Huck will play a prominent role, starting with this series.
As first reported by CBR, Huck: Big Bad World #1 – written by Mark Millar, with art by Rafael Albuquerque – will kick off a six-issue limited series, and while advanced details about the book are sparse as of now, the synopsis emphasizes the meaning of the subtitle, in the sense that the story is expected to introduce the eponymous hero to a wider, more dangerous world.
Huck's role in Big Game was limited, but memorable, and it will be exciting for fans of Millar's work to spend more time with the character as he grapples with the aftermath of that epic series.
In "Big Game," Mark Millar Killed Off Huck & Brought Him Back – Now He Takes Center Stage In The Author's Latest Series

According to CBR, Huck: Big Bad World will be the next step in the hero's journey, while also seemingly introducing a new cast of superpowered characters into the "Millarworld" continuity. The synopsis for issue #1 reads:
After being exposed as a super-powered person and hunting down the doctor who gave him—and his mother—their powers, it would seem like Huck could finally get back to the simple life he’d come to love, making folks in his small town feel safe and cared for by doing one good deed a day and being the real change anyone would want to see in the world. But then a mysterious man tells him he and his mother aren’t the ONLY super-people out in the world; many are hiding, just like them.
From the sound of it, Huck will seemingly be quickly forced out of his familiar status quo at the start of the series, and taken on a journey that will expand "Millarworld," while also forcing Huck to embrace his destiny as his world's equivalent to DC Comics' Superman.
Readers last saw Huck in Millar's Big Game miniseries, much of which consisted of the world's most diabolical villains wiping out any and all opposition, superheroic or otherwise. That included Huck, who was memorably, and shockingly, killed off in Big Game #3 – by no less than a nuclear weapon, which served as an apropos reminder to fans of the character's power level. The conclusion to Big Game was a bit of a wonky finish, restoring most of its heroic characters to life via time-travel, and Huck's survival made him a natural hero for Millar to follow up on.
Huck's Return Is The Perfect Next Chapter For Mark Millar's Sprawling Shared Comic Book Continuity
Huck: Big Bad World #1 (Of 6) – Available May 14, 2025 From Dark Horse Comics
Mark Millar's original Huck miniseries was released a full decade ago, in 2015, from then-publisher Image Comics. The series is noted for its lighter tone than much of Millar's other work, something that made it both a deliberate self-challenge by the author, and a welcome change for readers. Huck quickly established a fan-base, another reason that it makes sense Millar would choose to spend more time with the character in the post-Big Game "Millarworld" landscape, and Big Bad World promises to be a dramatic escalation for the hero.
All fans can do for now is...stay excited that Mark Millar's original comic book creations are alive and thriving.
The extent to which "Millarworld" titles will continue to interconnect remains unknown at this time. Big Game tied together two decades of independent, previously-unrelated Millar series, and so it is possible that the author will play the long game again when it comes to setting up the next crossover; alternatively, it is possible that with the foundation of the shared continuity established, crossovers could happen at a much quicker pace. All fans can do for now is speculate, and stay excited that Mark Millar's original comic book creations are alive and thriving.
