After Season 3 Wraps, Invincible Will Expand With a Brand-New Spinoff This May

Even after Invincible'sthird season wraps, fans won't be hanging for long thanks to a new spin-off just around the corner. For the first time in years, the minds behind Invincibleare returning to the fan-favorite universe in a new story that sheds light on one of the series' most beloved characters.

Invincible season 3 has hit its midway point with the fourth episode "You Were My Hero", which brought back Battle Beast for the first time since he was last featured in season 1's "That Actually Hurt". Capitalizing on brutal character's return, the official Invincible X account made a post telling fans that a new standalone comic series by Robert Kirkman and Ryan Ottley was set to come out later this year.

New Invincible Series Focusing on Battle Beast is Just Months Away

Comic and TV Fans Will Have New Invincible Content

Battle Beast, aka Thokk, is one of the most brutal and effective fighters in the entire Invincible Universe. Thokk was once the guardian of his planet and after growing addicted to combat, he ventured out into the universe, searching for a worthy foe. He ended up on Earth under the employ of crime boss Machine Head in the hopes of finding someone who could challenge him. Unfortunately, Thokk failed to find the fight he was looking for and left the planet. He was eventually captured and held in a Viltrumite prison, only to escape thanks to Omni-Man and Allen's assistance.

Comic readers have known that Battle Beast's return was only a matter of time, and they almost certainly know where he's going next. But what's great about this new series is that it's the first new Invincible content from Kirkman and Ottley in years, and it's going to tell fans everything they've wanted to know about the warrior's past. Not to mention, it's coming out at the perfect time. Just as fans are itching for more from this world, this new spin-off will take fans right back in and give them content right when they need more Invincible adventures.

If there's one thing that's really irked fans since the end of the first Invincible season, it's how long it takes for the show to come back. To be fair, animation is a lot more involved than live-action, but that doesn't make the wait any easier. However, this could be a good way of helping fans out during downtimes. While the book on Mark Grayson is closed, there's plenty of room to explore other characters in the Invincible Universe with additional limited series.

Sure, there's no guarantee. But what's almost certain is that there's a lot of Invincible fans who are eagerly awaiting to see what Kirkman and Ottley have planned for Invincible Universe: Battle Beast. While the idea of future spin-offs remains unclear, at the very least, Invincible fans have a new story to look forward to when the current season wraps up.

Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #1 is available on April 23rd from Image Comics.
