All Yuanbao Locations In GTA 5 Online
Despite Grand Theft Auto 6 nearing its incredibly long-awaited release, GTA Online is still receiving plenty of worthwhile updates for dedicated fans. As the game prepares for the Chinese New Year with a brand-new Year of the Snake event, you can expect to see new discounts, bonuses, races, and some worthwhile collectibles to hunt for in GTA Online. While you'll only have until January 29th to experience everything the limited-time event has to offer, there's more than enough time to take advantage of its free rewards.
While GTA 6 has had its share of wild release date rumors, its currently promised 2025 release window makes GTA Online a great way to pass the time until the next monumental launch. Even if the Year of the Snake Week is one of the smaller event types in GTA Online, there are plenty of standout cosmetics for you to unlock throughout its various events. Whether you're looking for some easy spending money or simply an enjoyable treasure hunt, the Yuanbao is a worthwhile side activity in between missions or while going on a joyride across San Andreas.
Every Yuanbao Location
Narrowing Down The Search For This Hidden Treasure
There are three kinds of Yuanbao for you to collect throughout GTA V's map: a standard full gold Yuanbao, a red-trimmed Yuanbao with a smaller one on top, and a red bowl-style Yuanbao filled to the top with gold coins. After finding and picking up your very first Yuanbao, you'll get a pop-up telling you there are 35 more to collect and that they can be tracked in the collectibles section of the interaction menu.
If you're left wondering what exactly a Yuanbao is, they're based on the real-world form of currency and symbol of prosperity from Chinese history, with paper-made imitations being commonly used to celebrate Chinese New Year to this day.
Although most of the Yuanbao locations aren't too tricky to find if you know where to look, the right unique vehicle can make all the difference. While a light helicopter can eliminate the need to climb certain buildings or deal with traffic, it can be tough to land in the right spots, making a fast bike the best option for the average player. If you have the funds to own one, though, the Oppressor MKII is by far the best option at your disposal for collecting each of the Yuanbao, significantly reducing the time the treasure hunt will take.
The locations are scattered quite far across the map, but it's not too difficult to get from one location to the next if you follow a specific route, starting up north in Paleto Bay and slowly making your way down towards the southernmost Los Santos Airport. It's also important to note that each Yuanbao plays a unique sound that gets louder the closer you approach while shaking your controller, helping you narrow down its exact location much more easily than other collectibles.

While traveling quickly around the map with a good reputation is a safer way to enjoy this scavenger hunt, you might want to complete the quest in a private or friends-only lobby to collect them. As the reward for each Yuanbao, minus the last, is given in the form of player cash, it only takes one well-timed missile from a greedy player and a decent chunk of your reward money could go up in flames. If you're like me, you might get distracted while going between each location with side content or open-world events, but they can easily help spice up the otherwise time-consuming task.
Rewards For Collecting Yuanbao
Worthwhile Goodies From GTA's Latest Collect-A-Thon
Each collected Yuanbao will reward you with $888 and 888 Reputation Points, but the final 36th collectible ingot will offer $88,888 instead, providing a total of $119,968 and 31,968RP. While these rewards might pale in comparison to larger heist payouts, it's a surprising amount of money for such a simple task, making it more than a worthwhile venture if you're looking for some fast GTA Online cash in the new year.
On top of the financial incentives, collecting all 36 Yuanbao will also permanently unlock the exclusive Gold Snake Santo Capra outfit for your wardrobe, allowing you to show off the spirit of the new year in style.
If you're like me and wondering what the significance of the use of the number 8 is for the Yuanbao's rewards, they represent the lucky number 8 from Chinese culture, symbolizing both good luck and financial fortune, which is more than accurate given its large payout in GTA V Online. While the Yuanbao is likely far from the last collectible even GTA V Online will see before the release of GTA 6, the consistency of events and its backlog of content will be sorely missed in the sequel, giving it an even higher bar to reach than before.
