American Idol Winner & Fan Favorite Reveals Major Singing Career Update With Exciting Announcement

American Idolseason 22 winner and fan favorite Abi Carter has announced that she'll be going on her first tour in 2025. Abi won American Idol season 22 in 2024, and made history as the first-ever platinum ticket recipient to do so. At her audition, she blew away the judges--Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan--with her phenomenal rendition of "What Was I Made For?" by Billie Eilish. Abi continued to impress everyone throughout the competition, all the way up to the finale when she performed her original song, "This Isn't Over," live for the first time.

Abi announced that she'll be performing on the Ghosts in the Backyard Tour in early 2025 in support of her album of the same name.

In an Instagram post, Abi announced that she'll be performing on the Ghosts in the Backyard Tour in early 2025 in support of her album of the same name. The tour dates include February 25 in San Diego, California; February 26 in Fresno, California; February 27 in Felton, California; March 10 in Nashville, Tennessee; March 11 in Atlanta, Georgia; March 13 in Carrboro, North Carolina; and March 15 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Abi will be playing in small venues in these cities.

Abi captioned the post, "AHHHHHH I’M GOING ON TOUR!!!!!," and shared information about how to get presale tickets. Abi concluded the post by writing, "Are you coming?" In the comments, a fan pointed out that the first date of the tour, February 25, is the one-year anniversary of when Abi debuted on American Idol. Abi replied, "how insane."

AHHHHHH I’M GOING ON TOUR!!!!! ... Are you coming?

It's fantastic that Abi has planned this tour in support of her new album because it will allow her to get out on the road and perform live for her fans, perhaps finding some new supporters along the way. During American Idol's heyday, the top finalists would go on a show-sponsored summer tour called American Idols Live!, traveling around the country to perform live for their fans. However, in more recent seasons there hasn't been a tour.

Because American Idol no longer has a tour, recent winners have had to make their own way after the show, which can be a difficult undertaking. It's wonderful that Abi was able to organize this tour in support of her album, Ghosts in the Backyard. The tour follows her first-ever live concert, "No Amount of Dark," which was at Acrisure Arena on July 27, 2024. After the tour ends, she'll be performing at Stagecoach 2025, California's Country Music Festival, on Friday, April 25, 2025, along with headliner Zach Bryan and many others.

Abi Has The Potential To Be One Of The Most Successful American Idol Winners

It's very exciting that Abi will be going on tour after her American Idol win. Although the FOX era of the show produced superstar winners such as Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, the ABC era winners haven't been quite as successful. Maddie Poppe, Laine Hardy, Just Sam, Chayce Beckham, Noah Thompson, and Iam Tongi have all achieved moderate levels of success, but none of them has been a breakout star.

Abi, however, has the potential to be one of the most successful American Idol winners. She has the perfect combination of stunning vocal ability and sparkling stage presence that could catapult her career into superstardom. Abi's Ghosts in the Backyard Tour is a step in the right direction, and a thrilling career milestone for the fan favorite singer.

American Idol season 23 premieres on Sunday, March 9 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.

American Idol is a reality singing competition that adds to the international "Idol" brand, conceived initially in the U.K. as Pop Idol. Holding massive auditions across the U.S., American Idol invited several contestants to perform in front of a panel of judges that would determine whether or not they'd go on to future rounds for a chance at competing in the fully televised premiere of the show. Contestants are voted off each week by American participation via voting through various mediums, and the winner of the competition would be given a contract with a record label to secure a future as America's next musical idol.
