Aquaman's New "God Killer" Title Teases His Major Power Overhaul
Aquaman Gets a Huge Upgrade After the Groundbreaking Events of Absolute Power
Aquaman has long possessed numerous powers, from enhanced senses to the ability to control marine life to do whatever he wills. He even has super-strength as a result of the oceanic pressure he's adapted to in Atlantis. As formidable as he can be, however, Aquaman has never quite measured up to DC powerhouses like Superman and Wonder Woman. He shares some of his fellow Justice Leaguers' abilities, such as speed and durability, but his versions tend to pale in comparison to others'. For instance, Aquaman can certainly swim at impressive speeds, but the Flash's powers let him move much faster.
This power gap has begun to close at long last with Aquaman's sudden upgrade. In the aftermath of the Absolute Power event by Mark Waid and Dan Mora, the heroes of the Justice League have switched powers with one another. As part of this cataclysmic shift in the status quo, Aquaman can now perform hydrokinesis, an ability he's borrowed from Mera. Arthur normally relies on the Trident of Neptune in battle, but thanks to his upgrade, he can hold his own against dangerous opponents he never could before.Aquaman's "God Killer" status proves how strong he's become with access to Mera's skill-set.
