Arcane's Replacement Show Just Became Even More Exciting After New League Of Legends Setup
Netflix's Arcane came to a definitive conclusion in November 2024, but its replacement already looks extremely exciting thanks to League of Legends. With season 1 being such a big hit, many fans were shocked to hear the announcement that Arcane was ending with season 2. The animated series completely surpassed expectations when it first arrived, and the second season was every bit as good given that it wrapped the story up perfectly. However, while it's great that the show went out on its own terms, the project's quality only made people crave more from Runeterra.
Luckily, more League of Legends spinoffs are in the works after Arcane as the showrunner announced that the franchise's new projects will focus on Noxus, Ionia, Demacia, and Bilgewater. Whereas Arcane focused solely on the Piltover/Zaun district, it's unclear if upcoming spinoffs could center around multiple regions at once, given there is no confirmation on exactly how many shows are in the works. Despite the confusion surrounding Runeterra's future on Netflix, one area already looks like it has plenty of setup for a new show, as a new cinematic from League of Legends put the spotlight on characters from Noxus.
League Of Legends’ "Welcome To Noxus" Cinematic Shows How Good Their Next Show Could Be
The Cinematic Trailer Looked Exactly Like Arcane Set In Noxus
League of Legends' "Welcome to Noxus" cinematic was a 5-minute trailer to promote the next season of the video game, but it also acted as an advertisement for how good a Noxus spinoff could be. Fortiche - the studio behind Arcane - animated the short project and the results were very impressive. The animation looked almost identical to Arcane, proving a project set in this region would fit seamlessly into the same televised universe. The cinematic also shows the diversity of the location, with snowy mountains, a sunny shore, and a cryptic venue all on display.
Even the music heavily resembled Arcane's signature style and with Noxus confirmed to be one of the areas getting some sort of spinoff, a full-length show looks more appealing than ever. Alongside showcasing some of the fascinating points of interest within the region, "Welcome to Noxus" introduced many of the unique characters who reside there. After Arcane became canon to League of Legends' story, the next projects look more important than ever, and the video game's latest trailer proves how much potential Noxus has in an animated setting, meaning it should be the next show the franchise focuses on.
The small glimpse of fighting and story setup was more than enough to get people talking, and the high-quality animation now has people interested in these new characters alongside their backgrounds, indicating just how good League of Legends' next show could be if they focus on Noxus.
The Noxus Spinoff Already Looks Like It Will Tie In With Arcane
Mel's Appearance & The Piltover Reference Hints At The Timeline Connecting
Assuming the next League of Legends show does take place in Noxus, the project already looks like it will have major ties to Arcane. Based on the game's new cinematic, the current events of League of Legends take place shortly after Arcane season 2's ending, which would be the perfect place for the next spinoff to begin. LeBlanc and Vladimir mention Piltover at the end of the trailer, and while the duo didn't feature in Netflix's hit show, the Black Rose did, meaning they were quietly involved in Arcane despite never physically appearing.
Vladamir also claims "We should focus on the opportunity that has washed up on our shores", potentially referring to Mel Madarda, who also features in "Welcome to Noxus" after having a heavy role in Arcane. Given her arc is directly linked to the Black Rose, League of Legends' next chapter may continue this storyline into Noxus, which would be a great premise for the spinoff. Not only would it present a smooth timeline that links both shows together, but Mel's appearance would connect the projects further and open up the potential for major cameos.
While it may not make sense for many of Arcane's characters to show up in Noxus, their alliance with Mel could be pivotal, meaning if she remains a key part of the ongoing Black Rose plot, the Noxus spinoff and Arcane will be heavily intertwined.
Arcane Provided The Perfect Blueprint For A Noxus Spinoff
Arcane's Ensemble Of Interesting Characters Tied Together Perfectly To Craft An Excellent Narrative
Having cemented itself as one of the best video game adaptations of all time, Arcane has already provided the perfect blueprint for the Noxus spinoff. Alongside its detailed animation and stunning soundtrack, Arcane's ensemble of interesting characters perfectly paved the way for the next League of Legends show to follow suit. "Welcome to Noxus" has already made it clear the district has a plethora of interesting characters that could lead the show, and plenty more could be introduced. However, the game also has numerous legends from Noxus who didn't feature in the trailer that could steal the spotlight.
Some of Arcane's most beloved characters - like Isha and Sevika - are not part of League of Legends, while Mel only recently joined the roster.
In addition, some of Arcane's most beloved characters - like Isha and Sevika - are not part of League of Legends, while Mel only recently joined the roster, proving Noxus could welcome some original characters as well. Arcane was excellent at featuring a bunch of major legends and giving them their own struggles and storylines that eventually overlapped with the main narrative. If Noxus' spinoff can do this too, there's no doubt it could reach a similar quality and continue League of Legends' fantastic televised universe, as the recent cinematic already showed the region's massive potential.
