At Last, One of Manga's Greatest Series Is Being Released in the United States
At long last, one of manga's best series is making its way to the United States. The historical masterpiece Kingdom has been in publication for years now, but it has always avoided licensing in the United States. Not long ago, reports surfaced that suggested Kingdom had finally found its way stateside, and the rumor put fans on edge. After all, decades have passed since the hit manga went live, and its popularity has prompted a growing interest in its story. Now, we know Viz Media has licensed Kingdom for an English release, and it will hit shelves before long.
According to Viz Media, Kingdom has been licensed at long last, and it is now eyeing a Fall 2025 release. The print release will go live on November 11 with volume one. At this time, the manga publisher has not given any update on Kingdom's digital release. As you can imagine, Shōnen Jump fans are eager to read the manga digitally given Viz Media's high-tech libraries. At this time, there is also no word on whether Kingdom could be simulpublished in the future. After all, Kingdom is still in publication, and it has 74 volumes to its name as of 2025.

Written and illustrated by Yasuhisa Hara, Kingdom is one of the best-selling manga ever as it has more than 100 million copies in circulation globally. Well, except for in the United States due to licensing restrictions. Across the world, Kingdom is incredibly popular given its large-scale fights, and U.S. fans have long asked for its debut across the pond.
Given how popular Kingdom is, many fans have wondered why it has taken so long for the series to receive an English translation, especially when other Shueisha manga that were less popular got translations before. The reason for the delay is still a mystery, but fans have their theories. Kingdom is a long-running series as it began back in 2006. With nearly 20 years of content under its belt, the commitment it would take to publish Kingdom is high. There is no doubt publishers have been hesitant to commit to such a push, but of course, manga's recent growth globally may have changed that tune.
According to the official press release, the English version of Kingdom will opt for the manga's Chinese names,

Why Kingdom Deserves To Be Recognized Worldwide
There is no denying that Kingdom is not just one of the best seinen manga in history but one of the best manga titles to date. Kingdomis an excellent peek at one of the most interesting historical periods on record, and while it does fictionalize some events to make the story more intriguing, the manga remains loyal to history. So if a publisher wants to bring Kingdom to the United States with a license, the fandom will not complain.
