Bachelor Season 29 Spoilers Reveal First Impression Rose Twist That Could Hurt Grant Ellis’ Season
WARNING! THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS ABOUT THE BACHELOR SEASON 29!
The Bachelor season 29 features a new first impression rose twist that might hurt Grant Ellis' season. The Bachelor season 29 stars Grant, a now-31-year-old day trader who's originally from Newark, New Jersey, but now lives in Houston, Texas. He got his Bachelor Nation start in Jenn Tran's Bachelorette season. Grant fell in love with Jenn, but she said goodbye to him right before her hometown dates. However, because his mission in life is to become a husband and a father, Grant was thrilled to accept the role as the next Bachelor lead.
The Bachelor season 29 woman who receives Grant's first impression rose will also automatically be his choice for the first one-on-one date.
When Grant's Bachelor season 29 cast was announced in an ABC press release, the network also revealed that there would be a twist with the first impression rose. It stated, "Love awaits 25 extraordinary women preparing to open their hearts to Grant Ellis on the season premiere of The Bachelor. With a bold, new twist on the traditional first impression rose, making a strong connection has never been more crucial."
However, the details about the twist weren't disclosed. Now Reality Steve revealed on his official website that the Bachelor season 29 woman who receives Grant's first impression rose will also automatically be his choice for the first one-on-one date. This is the first time that the Bachelor franchise has implemented this twist.

What Bachelor Season 29 First Impression Rose Twist Means For Grant Ellis
Grant Will Have To Choose Very Carefully
Since the first impression rose holds more weight now, Grant'll have to be very careful about his decision. Not only does the rose mean the woman made such a strong impression on him that he's letting her know he wants her there another week, but he's also asking her out on the first date by offering it to her. It's going to put a lot of pressure on Grant to make this decision because he'll only have known the women for a few hours before he has to make his choice based off of a limousine entrance and one conversation.
In addition, The Bachelor's first impression rose twist gives a lot of attention to the recipient from the lead, which could put her at odds with the other women. The Bachelor producers love to create drama on the show, and this twist has the potential to make the first impression rose recipient a target of the other women's wrath. Hopefully, this won't happen, but it's definitely a possibility.
Our Take On The Bachelor Season 29 First Impression Rose Twist
This Twist Could Hurt Grant's Season
It's unfortunate that the Bachelor producers didn't learn from their mistakes with the twists in the past two seasons. Before Zach Shallcross' season began, they had America vote for one contestant out of five to receive America's first impression rose, which meant that the recipient would be safe during the first rose ceremony. Brianna Thorbourne won the rose, but she felt awkward because America chose her and not Zach. She eventually ended up self-eliminating from the competition.
In addition, before Joey Graziadei's season, contestant Lea Cayanan received an envelope that she wasn't allowed to open until premiere night. When she finally opened it, Lea discovered that it contained a card that gave her the opportunity to steal a one-on-one date from any woman up until Joey's hometown dates. Lea didn't want to hurt her fellow contestants and didn't want to force Joey to go on a date with her if he'd chosen someone else, so she burned the card in the Bachelor Mansion fireplace, thus ending the twist before it started.
The Bachelor producers came up with a twist that can't be avoided by Grant and the women. Grant has to give out a first impression rose, and, in doing so, he'll also be choosing his first one-on-one date recipient. It'll be very intriguing to see if this ends up helping or hurting Grant's season in the long-run. Quite often, the first impression rose winner doesn't receive the first one-on-one date, so this new twist will change everything. Hopefully, Grant will make the right choice, and it will lead him to finding his true love.
The Bachelor premieres Monday, January 27 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
