This winter’s final bird census counted 15 bald eagles in the San Jacinto and San Bernardino Mountains: 10 adults, three juveniles, and two chicks. Many were nesting in their usual spots, such as Big Bear Lake, Lake Gregory, and Silverwood Lake. Bald eagles typically winter near the lakes from November to April.
