Black Ops 6 Season 2's Coolest Addition Will Change The Game Forever, But It Shouldn't Be A Perk

The second season of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has arrived after an unusually long, two-and-a-half-month first season. Black Ops 6 season two brings lots of new content to Zombies, Ranked Play, Warzone, and the game's Multiplayer. There's plenty for multiplayer fans to get stuck into, with ten new weapons, including the fan-favorite PPSh-41 SMG, four new attachments to breathe new life into some of Black Ops 6's best weapons, three new maps, and some new game modes to go with them.

Black Ops 6 Season Two will also allow players to unlock a brand-new perk during the Shadow Hunt event that starts on February 13th and runs until the 20th. This new perk is called Slipstream, a tier-3 red perk that raises the player's base sprint speed at the cost of removing Tactical Sprint, which has the potential to change how Black Ops 6 multiplayer is played completely.

Black Ops 6's Season 2 Slipstream Perk Is Too Good

Tactical Sprint Is Worse With Omnimovement

The biggest addition Black Ops 6 made to Call of Duty was the omnimovement mechanic, which lets players sprint, slide, and dive in any direction. Omnimovement has made a big change to the pace and flow of Call of Duty multiplayer, as skilled players can move around the maps faster and use their movement skills to give them the edge in gunfights. As a result, the importance of the tactical sprint mechanic that was added in Modern Warfare (2019) has dropped.

Because tactical sprint has become less powerful, the downside of the new Slipstream Perk isn't that big of a loss. The new perk will work like the All-Terrain Boots from last year's Modern Warfare 3; a player using Slipstream will get from point A to point B just as fast as using Tactical Sprint. Pair this with omnimovement and players can move around the maps faster than ever. Removing Tactical Sprint also means players can start shooting their guns faster, and it makes the Double Time perk useless, so Slipstream should become the go-to tier-3 perk.

Slipstream Should Be Part Of Omnimovement By Default

New Call Of Duty Games Should Feel Different

Slipstream is a very powerful perk and will be popular once players unlock it in February, but it shouldn't be locked behind an event pass. Furthermore, increasing the base sprint speed and removing Tactical Sprint should have been in Black Ops 6 at launch. The All-Terrain Boots were a popular addition in MW3, and Treyarch should have seen that and paired the higher sprint speed with the new omnimovement they had created to make it feel even more powerful.

Tactical Sprint was an exciting edition five years ago, but as Call of Duty has evolved over that time, it feels clunkier to use, and it often causes players to be caught off-guard by another who is using omnimovement more effectively. Removing Tactical Sprint from the start would have made Black Ops 6 feel like a new game, rather than a continuation of the last few CoD games in a new setting, and would have encouraged players to further experiment with omnimovement.
