Brilliant Mindshas a near-perfect argument for why it should be renewed for season 2. The freshman medical drama stands out because of its focus on neurological cases and its commitment to diversity. Unlike most medical shows, the series is set in an overcrowded hospital in a poor area and features several neurodivergent characters as well as characters of different races and sexual orientations. The first season of Brilliant Minds only had 13 episodes and ended on January 6, 2025, with a two-hour finale.

Wolf will likely need the help of his team to figure out whether to move ahead with Noah's case as well as strategies for diagnosing his condition. However, he may not be able to lean on his closest ally, as Carol (Tamberla Perry) was suspended from duty in the season finale.

All of these potential story threads give Brilliant Mindsexciting new directions to go in, so it will be disappointing if NBC doesn't renew it.
