Chris Evans' Best Post-Endgame Movie With A 97% RT Score Is The Proof That He'd Be Perfect For This Avengers: Doomsday Role

Chris Evans’ best post-Endgame character would be the perfect blueprint for his mysterious Avengers: Doomsdayrole. Known for his stint as Steve Rogers in the MCU, Evans passed on the mantle of Captain America at the end of 2019’s Endgame. However, it was revealed last year that he will make a surprising return to the MCU in an undisclosed role in Avengers: Doomsday. Fans have started speculating as to who Evans will be playing exactly, and the Multiverse Saga offers up several options.

Considering that the MCU’s new Captain America has been established as Sam Wilson, it’s highly unlikely that Evans’ Doomsday role will be a continuation of his previous legacy. He may end up following in his Avengers co-star’s footsteps and play a completely separate character from Captain America. Robert Downey Jr. was officially cast as the villain Doctor Doom after over a decade of playing Iron Man and Evans could do something similar. However, there is one potential role for Evans that would pay homage to his Captain America while also showcasing a new side to him in the MCU.

Chris Evans Played The Villain In His Best Post-Avengers: Endgame Movie

Despite his most iconic role being a superhero character, Evans’ best post-Avengers: Endgame project was actually a villain role. Just a few months after Endgame, the actor starred in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out. He played Ransom Drysdale, the grandson of the film’s murder victim, and received plenty of praise for his role. Evans’ confidence and charisma shined in his performance, and it made his character’s twist at the end all the more shocking.

It’s revealed that Ransom was the mastermind behind the crime, which was a huge surprise for a lot of viewers. Marvel fans had grown so accustomed to seeing Evans as the good guy that they automatically rooted for his Knives Out character, but his villain twist is one of the best parts of the movie. Not only is Knives Out Evans’ best movie post-Endgame, but it is one of his best of all time. While Endgame has a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, Knives Out is his top-ranked film with 97%.

Chris Evans Playing Evil Captain America In Avengers: Doomsday Would Be Perfect

Evans proved that he could pull off a villain in Knives Out, and his MCU return would be the perfect opportunity to explore that side of him further. A simple variant of Captain America from another universe would be too predictable and similar to Evans’ previous appearances. Having him return in Doomsday as an evil Captain America would be a huge twist on the beloved character that would definitely subvert expectations.

An evil Captain America, or Captain Hydra specifically, would be a great role for Evans because it would put him in the same situation as Knives Out. Fans will want to root for him knowing that he’s Captain America, and the impact of him being evil will feel much more personal. With the righteous Steve Rogers becoming Evans’ most iconic role, it makes sense that a lot of his following non-MCU projects cast him in similar likable roles. However, Knives Out is proof that Evans can portray a villain well, and Marvel should take advantage of that in Avengers: Doomsday.
