City to Shut Off Up to Half of Water Fountains Amid Lead Concerns

Testing discovered unacceptable levels of lead Chicago's tap water at hundreds of sites.

After tests discovered unacceptably high levels of lead in hundreds of Chicago water fountains, the city may shut off up to half of them this summer, said park district officials. Some fountains will also flow continuously to flush out the lead.
