Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 3 Recap: 10 Biggest Spoilers Explained

WARNING: This article contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Cobra Kai season 6, part 3.

Cobra Kai season 6, part 3 brings the show to an end with five episodes that are full of surprises, unexpected fights, and emotional callbacks to the original Karate Kid movie. Following Kwon’s death during the Sekai Taikai brawl in episode 10, it remained to be seen how the tournament was going to return if at all. The fate of the Cobra Kai dojo, what was next for Daniel and Johnny, and what would happen to the rest of Cobra Kai's main characters after high school were also questions Cobra Kai’s final episodes were expected to address.

The Sekai Taikai resuming despite Kwon’s death should be no surprise considering how important the tournament has been for the show since the previous season. However, Cobra Kai season 6 still had a lot of twists and turns in store, especially regarding who was going to fight for each dojo. Between Robby and Sam not making it to the finals and Cobra Kai getting a new sensei at the last minute, Cobra Kai saved some of its most shocking moments for the final five episodes.

10 Kim Da-Eun Kills Her Grandfather And Takes Over The Family Dojo

Master Kim Sung-Yung Dies Proud Of His Granddaughter

After Kwon’s death and Cobra Kai’s disgraceful performance at the Sekai Taikai, Master Kim sought to punish all of his students for what had happened. While Sensei Kim Da-Eun was not happy with it, there was little she could do. Master Kim’s punishment was also a lesson in which Yoon Do-Jin was going to have to learn a deadly Cobra Kai move by practicing it on his colleagues. Later in season 6, episode 11, Master Kim challenged his granddaughter to decide the future of the dojo.

Sensei Kim Da-Eun and Chozen got together at the end of Cobra Kai.

While Master Kim never actually says what her options are, it’s clear that she was supposed to choose between killing her grandfather and taking over the dojo or killing Kreese. After a conversation with Kreese in which he said his time had come, it seemed like Sensei Kim had chosen to kill her long-time friend. However, she actually chose to attack her grandfather. Sensei Kim ended up killing Master Kim by using the deadly technique he was trying to teach her. Now in front of her family’s dojo, Sensei Kim decided not to return for the Sekai Taikai.

9 Terry Silver Is The Reason The Sekai Taikai Resumes After Kwon’s Death

The Sekai Taikai was called off after Kwon’s tragic death, but Terry Silver would not accept it. Ever since Cobra Kai season 5, Silver has been talking about his legacy and why the Sekai Taikai is so important to him. With the Iron Dragons being the favorites to win the whole thing, Silver tracked down Gunther Braun and sought to convince him to bring the tournament back for the final rounds.

Terry Silver’s proposition was simple – he would pay for everything if the Sekai Taikai were to return. While Gunther was not interested in Silver’s pitch at first, the Sekai Taikai host ended up admitting that he did not want the tournament to end in disgrace on his watch. However, Gunther said he was only going to bring the Sekai Taikai back if all participants dojo agreed. It took some convincing for Daniel LaRusso to accept it, to the point Silver had to talk to Johnny first and then go to Daniel’s house.

Carmen’s pregnancy was a major plot point in the first two parts of Cobra Kai season 6, and her baby finally arrived in the final episodes. However, before Carmen gave birth, Johnny was questioned by Rosa about whether he would marry her daughter before they had a child. Rosa said she didn’t want their kids to be a “bastard,” to which she later apologized. Still, Johnny got the message – he needed to marry Carmen as soon as possible.

Johnny decided not to wait any longer and proposed to Carmen right after her water broke.

Johnny was planning on proposing to Carmen at the end of season 5, but after almost dying fighting Silver’s men and then entering the Sekai Taikai, he thought he had missed the right opportunity. Still, Johnny decided not to wait any longer and proposed to Carmen right after her water broke. The two got married at the hospital in front of their family, with Johnny’s long-time Cobra Kai friend pastor Bobby Brown conducting the ceremony.

7 Robby Keene Gets Injured And Axel Kovacevic Goes To The Final Round

With the Sekai Taikai back for the final rounds, Robby and Axel’s fight resumed with the scores reset. Despite not believing he could beat Axel initially after not landing a single hit in their first fight, Robby trusted his potential and gave the Iron Dragon champion a tough fight. Axel went from an invincible opponent to someone who could be defeated, which got Terry Silver and Sensei Wolf scared.

Fearing they would lose the fight, Sensei Wolf commanded Axel to go for Robby’s leg and get him out of the fight for good. Axel did not want to do it and believed he could beat Keene fair and square, but Sensei Wolf made his orders clear. Axel broke Robby’s leg while making it seem like it was just an accident, meaning no deducted points or disqualification. Although Robby was incredibly frustrated, he accepted his fate and was thankful for all the things karate gave him despite never winning a tournament.

6 Sam Gives Up The Semifinals And Tory Advances Straight To The Finals

Sam Realizes She Has Nothing To Fight For In This Tournament

Sam and Tory’s complicated relationship finally reached a point where they could be friends without keeping any secrets or unresolved feelings. In fact, Sam is the one who convinces Tory to participate in the semifinals after the Cobra Kai champion says she is done with tournaments and dojos forever. Sam and Tory trained together for the semifinals, even though they were going to face each other in the semifinals.

Daniel backed up Sam’s decision and was proud of how wise she was about knowing when not to fight.

However, the night before the fight, Sam noticed that she did not know what she was fighting for. Miyagi-Do was not about winning tournaments, meaning that she did not necessarily have to fight just to help her dojo get points in a competition – with Robby out, Miyagi-Do did not even have a chance to win the whole thing anymore. Additionally, Sam knew that the tournament was much more important to Tory’s future than to hers. Daniel backed up Sam’s decision and was proud of how wise she was about knowing when not to fight.

5 Kreese Asks Johnny For Forgiveness (And Johnny Eventually Accepts It)

Johnny And Kreese Share A Powerful Moment At The End

John Kreese was redeemed at the end of Cobra Kai season 6, but it took a while to happen. After saying goodbye to Kim Da-Eun, Kreese returned to the United States to make some things right. It seemed like Kreese felt that his ending was coming and wanted to fix his mistakes and say all the things he wished he had said to his most precious students, namely Tory and Johnny. Following his final goodbye to Nichols, Kreese met Johnny at the same parking lot from the beginning of The Karate Kid Part II.

Kreese described that parking lot as the place where he made the biggest mistake of his life – breaking Johnny’s trophy and attacking his student after his loss at the tournament in 1984. Johnny did not engage with Kreese, but later in the episode, he finally said his piece to his old mentor. Johnny told Kreese how much he idealized him and how much it hurt being abandoned by him after the tournament, after which they hugged each other as Johnny broke down in tears. This is when Kreese told Johnny he would do anything to help him.

4 Johnny Lawrence Reclaims Cobra Kai Before The Final Matches

The moment viewers had been waiting for since the end of season 2 finally happened in the final episodes of Cobra Kai: Johnny Lawrence reclaimed the Cobra Kai dojo. With Sensei Kim having her own version of Cobra Kai in Korea, Terry Silver leading the Iron Dragons, and Kreese wishing to help Johnny in any way he could, Cobra Kai got to make things right and honor the show's name. Kreese stepped down as the sensei of Cobra Kai, with Johnny taking his spot ahead of the final rounds of the Sekai Taikai.

Given that Miguel had once been a Cobra Kai student, he was allowed to fight for his old dojo.

With Miyagi-Do out of the competition, both Daniel and Chozen supported Johnny’s decision to lead the Cobra Kai dojo in the final rounds. Thanks to Kwon’s victory in Barcelona, Cobra Kai already had a spot in the boys' division’s final round, yet they still needed a fighter. Per the loophole mentioned by Silver in Part 2, any dojo could enlist a new competitor as a replacement at any point. This is how Miguel Diaz, Johnny’s original student, left Miyagi-Do and joined Cobra Kai as their male captainfor the final match against Axel.

After several episodes focused on the Sekai Taikai, we finally met our champions in the show's penultimate episode. Tory beat Zara to become the girls’ division’s champion, whereas Miguel beat Axel and won the boy’s divisions. This was Tory’s second tournament win in Cobra Kai, although she never embraced her first win after finding out Terry Silver bought the All-Valley referee. This time, Tory found the major victory she had been looking for since the start of the show.

Kreese and Johnny found closure for their complicated relationship, but the original Karate Kid villain’s redemption was not over yet. Terry Silver was still a loose end, and with Johnny facing Wolf to settle the Sekai Taikai, Kreese knew that Lawrence could be in danger. After seeing the way Silver talked to Johnny’s family, Kreese was sure that his former best friend was going to put them in danger.

Terry Silver was terminally ill and only had a few more months left.

This is exactly what Silver was planning, as he told De Guzman to kidnap Johnny’s wife and daughter to force him to lose the fight. Just as De Guzman was about to leave the yacht to act on Silver’s orders, Kreese arrived and knocked him down. What followed was a fight in which Silver and Kreese knew at least one of them was going to die. Knowing Silver would always be a threat to Johnny, Kreese threw his cigar into a puddle of gasoline and exploded the whole yacht, killing himself in the process but taking Silver with him.

1 Johnny Lawrence Beats Sensei Wolf And Wins The Sekai Taikai

Cobra Kai and The Iron Dragons were tied in points by the end of the Sekai Taikai, which had never happened in the history of the tournament. To settle which dojo was going to be the champion, a final fight would be hosted between their respective senseis. In other words, Johnny was going to have to fight Wolf for the title. Forty years after the events of The Karate Kid, Johnny Lawrence saw himself again in the final round of a tournament.

Johnny reopens Cobra Kai at the end of the show.

Cobra Kai’s final episode was all about Johnny Lawrence preparing for the final match as he reflected on how losing to Daniel in 1984 changed the course of his life. Johnny was terrified the same thing would happen again, and that this second chance was nothing but an illusion. However, with the help of Daniel and wishing to honor his students, Johnny overcame his fears during the fight. Instead of striking first and getting knocked down like it happened in ’84, Johnny waited for Wolf to come to him, took control of the fight, and won the tournament.
