The new trailer for Dark Windsseason 3 teases the stalking of the main duo ahead of the show's return. Based on the Leaphorn & Chee books by Tony Hillerman, with Zahn McClarnon and Kiowa Gordon in the respective main roles of Chee and Leaphorn, the adaptation debuted in June 2022. Experiencing a jump in popularity when it was added to Netflix last year, along with several other AMC Originals, Dark Winds season 3 will pick up several months after Leaphorn sought revenge in the season 2 finale. The latest preview suggests the story could be taking a dark turn.
A new teaser trailer has been unveiled for the eight-episode Dark Winds season 3, which debuts March 9 on AMC and AMC+. Although it runs for only about 30 seconds, the teaser packs in a lot of new information. That includes the first look at the characters played by Jenna Elfman (Fear the Walking Dead) and Bruce Greenwood (The Resident). It also hints that Leaphorn seems particularly haunted by an unseen monster.

The crime drama adaptation, which is executive produced by Robert Redford and George R. R. Martin, with John Wirth as showrunner, will try to move past Leaphorn's quest for revenge in the Dark Winds season 2 finale. The focus will turn to Leaphorn and Chee's efforts to investigate the disappearance of two boys even though they have only an abandoned bicycle and some blood stains to rely on. There will also be the additions of Elfman as FBI Special Agent Sylvia Washington and Greenwood as an oil baron named Tom Spenser.
There are other threads to look at in season 3, particularly Bernadette (Jessica Matten) trying to adjust to border life and getting caught up in a drug smuggling conspiracy. But the big theme of the teaser is that a monster seems to be haunting Leaphorn's dreams. A shadowy creature looks to haunt the protagonist from behind a curtain, potentially pointing to the season's supernatural elements. Leaphorn, though, seems stubborn and ready to face anything.
