DC’s Absolute Universe—the Darkseid-created realm that has reimagined iconic characters in bold and gritty ways—has dramatically transformed Wonder Woman, particularly her Lasso of Truth. And the latest change to the lasso has elevated Diana to unprecedented levels of power, solidifying her as the most formidable iteration of the character to date.

Absolute Wonder Woman truly stands as the most powerful version of the character in comic history.

As previously established, Absolute Wonder Woman’s version of the Lasso of Truth is known as the Nemesis Lasso, or θυεία, which means “sacrifice” in Greek. This weapon debuted alongside Diana, and with each passing issue, it gains more lore and revelations about its abilities.

So far, past issues have confirmed that it is exceptionally powerful, like the Lasso of Truth. However, unlike the Lasso of Truth, it can judge the sins of those it binds, inflicting pain equal to those sins. Issue #5 of Absolute Wonder Woman features a flashback in which Circe, Diana’s mother, gifts her the Nemesis Lasso. Notably, Circe uses female pronouns when speaking about the lasso, rather than referring to it as an "it." After presenting Diana with the lasso she has crafted, Circe explains, “She will hold anything, Diana. And she will transform anything… but what she holds determines the shape of that transformation.” In this moment, Circe has gifted Diana an incredibly powerful weapon, which readers witness in action a few pages later when the narrative returns to the present.

In the present narrative, Wonder Woman faces off against the Tetracide, a world-ending monster she has been trying to defeat for several issues. This time, rather than confronting the creature directly, Diana harnesses the transformative properties of her lasso, turning herself into a skyscraper-sized Medusa. Now transformed into the legendary reptilian gorgon of Greek mythology, Diana utilizes Medusa’s ability to turn anything that meets her gaze into solid stone, finally defeating the Tetracide, a beast that has proven nearly invincible until this point.
