Death of woman after delivery at private hospital sparks protest, family alleges negligence
Ludhiana: Tension prevailed outside a private hospital on GT Road in Khanna on Wednesday, as the agitated family of a woman who died following childbirth, joined by local farmer union members, blocked the Delhi-Amritsar Highway. They demanded action against the hospital, accusing it of medical negligence and seeking accountability for the tragic death.
The husband of the deceased alleged that his wife continued to bleed after delivery but did not receive timely medical attention. He claimed that the doctor failed to treat her condition and that the hospital staff delayed contacting the doctor when her condition worsened. He stated that his wife was eventually transferred to another hospital, but by then, she had already passed away. He is seeking legal action against the doctor and staff for negligence.

As per the recent media reports by TOI, one of the IMA members Dr Amarjit Singh Bajaj, said that there was no negligence on the part of the doctor and if the family wanted, they could resort to legal recourse by getting a postmortem done.
When the protestors blocked the national highway, the local police, led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ashwini Gotyal, arrived at the scene to manage the situation. SSP Gotyal urged the protestors not to take the law into their own hands. Later, addressing the issue, the police agreed to facilitate the postmortem of the deceased at Fatehgarh Sahib, which is expected to provide clarity on the cause of death.
