After reaching level 60 in Diablo 4, you will likely be hunting for some Artificer’s Stones. Previously called Runeshards before Diablo 4 Season Six, Artificer’s Stones are essential for participating in one of Diablo 4’s endgame activities. This means you’ll want to stock up so you have more options for what to do after leveling a character.
There are many ways to earn Artificer’s Stones in Diablo 4. Some of these are more reliable than others. Limited-time events can be a good way to get your hands on some, but since these events aren’t always running, you’ll need an alternative for where to farm them. Some items will also make Artificer’s Stones easier to find.
Where To Get Artificer’s Stones
Artificer’s Stones Can Be Rewards Or Drops
One of the best ways to get Artificer’s Stones in Diablo 4 is by using the Tree of Whispers. This involves seeking out bounties called Whispers of the Dead that give players extra experience, gold, and Grim Favors. You can use the Grim Favors at the Tree of Whispers to get a Whisper Cache. Getting a Whisper Cache with Artificer’s Stones is a good option because the caches contain a good number of them, and bounties give you a clear goal to work towards.
Several other activities also work well for getting Artificer’s Stones. Completing a Nightmare Dungeon, playing Helltide, or doing the Kurast Undercity dungeon rewards you with Artificer’s Stones. Infernal Hordes also offers a few ways to get Artificer’s Stones. You can either find them in the Spoils of Greater Equipment or the Spoils of Materials, or you can get them by beating the Fell Council.
Certain events like Legion Events and World Events will also give Artificer Stones. Additionally, you can use a consumable elixir called Seething Opal of Torment during any play session. This elixir will increase the chances that all enemies will drop Artificer’s Stones for 30 minutes.

Artificer’s Stones Open The Pit Of The Artificer
Artificer’s Stones serve only one purpose in Diablo 4: opening The Pit of the Artificer. The Pit is an endgame dungeon with a few big benefits. Doing The Pit can help you upgrade your Paragon Glyphs and also unlock Torment difficulties. Torment difficulties increase the challenge of Diablo 4’s endgame but also give you a better chance to score rare loot.
To open The Pit of the Artificer, you have to travel to Cerrigar in the Scosglen region. Once there, you will find a Portal Activator called the Artificer’s Obelisk on the west side of town. Interacting with the Obelisk will allow you to spend your Artificer’s Stones to unlock The Pit. You can only enter The Pit after reaching level 60 and doing The Pit of the Artificer quest in Diablo 4.
