Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Tales Of Agrabah Update Looks Great, But Something’s Still Missing
Disney Dreamlight Valley has finally unveiled its first big announcement for 2025, the Tales of Agrabah update, with the core focus being bringing Aladdin and Princess Jasmine to the valley. Even though the announcement showcased some other incredible aspects coming as part of the update, the absence of a few highly anticipated features didn't go unnoticed.
Most notably, it was disappointing to see that certain characters and potential companions didn't make the cut for this update. While it could be argued that the team may have felt it would be too much, it's hard to agree when some of the other franchises have upwards of five unique characters from their films in the valley.
Aladdin and Jasmine Finally Arrive In The Valley
Venture To Agrabah Through The Aladdin Realm Door
The biggest part of this update, without question, was the official reveal of Aladdin and Princess Jasmine coming to Disney Dreamlight Valley. While players were able to speculate on their arrival thanks to the 2025 Disney Dreamlight Valley Road Map that was revealed previously, there was still no formal statement about what exactly would be included, just that the update would be themed around Aladdin based on an image showing pieces of their outfits.

A Year Later, Some Disney Dreamlight Valley Players Are Still Stuck On This Quest, And Gameloft's Advice Offers No Help
One Disney Dreamlight Valley quest is causing players trouble despite being introduced over a year ago, but the community may have the solution.
While some characters often come to the valley without a realm, such as Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas, Disney Dreamlight Valley rarely does this when introducing more than one character at a time, even if a character from their world already exists in the valley. This is especially true since Jafar is exclusive to The Storybook Vale DLC, which means that base game players wouldn't have access to him at all and that Aladdin and Jasmine likely won't have any specific interaction with him.
In addition to a new realm in the Dreamlight Castle, this also means a new home for the valley, which was already somewhat revealed as a palace-looking tower. Though it seemed like an odd choice, there were limited options considering Jafar already has the full palace and Cave of Wonders. Additionally, since Aladdin and Jasim will live together, as other valley couples do, there's luckily no need to stress about overcrowding, especially with the new addition of Sky Islands to Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Aladdin’s Gem Stall Is Going To Cut Back On Tedious Mining
Add Buying Gems From Aladdin To The List Of Daily Tasks
Perhaps the most exciting part of the announcement outside the new characters is the reveal that Aladdin will have a stall in the valley selling Gems. While Goofy was originally the only stall owner in Disney Dreamlight Valley, others have since come to enter the small business world for themselves. Mulan operates a small Tea Stall, Tiana sells prepared meals, Kristoff sells crafting materials, and Gaston sells meat. All of these stalls are designed to help build up stock and cut down on grind work.

How To Unlock Mulan’s Tea Stall In Disney Dreamlight Valley
Mulan brings a new stall to Disney Dreamlight Valley, offering free tea leaves that make high Energy boosting dishes with a touch of Chinese culture.
Even if you don't need the supplies they're selling for the day, it's always worth purchasing them just to stock up for later. Some of the stalls also tend to rotate a usual daily supply, so you never know what they're going to have on the day you need something. Therefore, Aladdin's stall might be one of the most exciting yet, as his is likely to become one of the most useful stalls in the valley and was already sought after as a possibility for Jafar when he launched.

Disney Dreamlight Valley: What Gems Should You Sell & Which Ones Should You Keep?
With so many different gems and their uses, which of the valley's gems should you keep for important quests and which should you sell for profit?
Mining is no doubt incredibly tedious in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Not only do specific Gems only spawn in designated areas, but they're also not even guaranteed to be there at any given time. This means that you could be locked in a cycle of mining all the Ore Deposits, waiting for them to respawn, and mining again for hours before you get all the gems you need. Being able to purchase a limited supply from Aladdin each day now means significantly less time spent doing it yourself and a better experience overall.
The Flying Carpet Is A Fun Surprise, But Something’s Still Missing
Where's The Genie, Rajah, and Abu?
Despite all the good and excitement, it's hard not to feel disappointed about some of the things left out of this update too. Most notably, the lack of a major character from the world of Aladdin: the Genie. Not only is the Genie a major personality in Aladdin, but the argument could be made that he's almost as much the main character as Aladdin himself. Having him absent, especially when Jafar is also part of the game, just feels wrong, and his presence could've opened so many doors for magical and fantastical quests.

Hilariously Realistic Disney Dreamlight Valley Design Breaks The Illusion Of Magic By Taking Players "Behind The Buildings To The Back Lot"
Disney Dreamlight Valley is full of magic and whimsy but one creator has decided to design a hyper-realistic industrial location, instead.
Beyond that, another major disappointment is the absence of Rajah or Abu as companions. While the Flying Carpet is a fun surprise that will no doubt be an interesting companion, that choice almost further rubs salt in the wound about the lack of the Genie. However, it could present an interesting new feature to the game if players can ride on it. Otherwise, it might have simply been better as an accessory, like Wings or Gliders, so that it could be used to fly in Disney Dreamlight Valley with the well-fed bonus.
With all that being said, while it is disappointing that these things were not included as part of this specific update, that doesn't mean they won't ever arrive in the valley. Even though there will now be three characters from Aladdin, The Lion King has five that arrived through various updates. Simba and Nala were originally released with the realm, but a later update added Timon and Pumba through the realm as well, which means it's not impossible the same could happen with Genie.

Disney Dreamlight Valley's Endless Fetch Quests Are Getting Old, But The Solution Is Simple
Disney Dreamlight Valley has a problem with repetitive content, but some other games provide clear examples of how to improve the situation.
As for the companions, the upcoming Oasis Retreat Star Path has yet to be revealed in full, but it's confirmed to include things related to Aladdin. This means that there is a small possibility that Rajah and Abu may have been left out of the update so that they could be included as a Star Path reward in Disney Dreamlight Valley. That being said, considering that the Spa-themed Capybara was already revealed to be a new companion for the update, the odds are looking pretty slim.
