Don't Quit at Goku, Dragon Ball Daima Needs to Make Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta Canon ASAP

Dragon Ball established a tradition of introducing new transformations to Goku first before passing them on to Vegeta, a Saiyan often seen as living in Goku's shadow. However, Vegeta’s achievement of Super Saiyan 3 in Dragon Ball Daima has helped restore his credibility. Unlike Goku, who attained the form while dead, or Gotenks, who achieved it through fusion, Vegeta unlocked this iconic transformation purely through intense training, further solidifying his warrior spirit. With Daima already showcasing Goku’s Super Saiyan 4, it strongly suggests that Vegeta will follow suit.

However, with only two episodes left and Vegeta yet to receive a major moment in the final battle, the series must feature his transformation soon, ideally in the next episode. If Daima aims to bridge the timeline leading into Dragon Ball Super as a canon continuation, it needs to solidify this transformation now. Otherwise, Vegeta may never get the opportunity to achieve Super Saiyan 4. Luckily, fan artists have already begun to imagine what this new iconic form will look like.

Vegeta’s Super Saiyan 4 Becoming Canon Has a Limited Window of Opportunity

The Super Saiyan 4 Transformations Could Be a One-Time Phenomenon

@Maxartarg has shared on X his version of kid Vegeta Super Saiyan 4. The form follows the new color scheme introduced by Daima for Super Saiyan 4 Goku, but highlights Vegeta's signature smug look of confidence. It's important that this Vegeta transformation debuts before the end of Daima, because the franchise is effectively removing GT from the canonical timeline.

In GT, Goku’s first transformation into this form was treated as something entirely new, even by those familiar with Saiyan transformations. Meanwhile, Dragon Ball Super never depicted Goku using Super Saiyan 4 against Beerus, despite it being one of the strongest forms outside of the God Tier. However, a new phenomenon tied to the latest transformations could still allow Super to remain canon, but at the cost of Super Saiyan 4’s relevance.

Goku achieved this form in Daimawith the help of Neva, who unlocked his power through demonic magic. This implies that Super Saiyan 4 may be restricted to special conditions, requiring Neva as a catalyst and the Demon World’s unique environment to facilitate the transformation. If that’s the case, Vegeta, despite his relentless training, may never be able to attain Super Saiyan 4 on his own. With Daima nearing its conclusion, the series has one final opportunity to not only grant Vegeta this transformation but also make another long-awaited moment canon.

Dragon Ball Daima Could Go Beyond Vegeta’s Super Saiyan 4 and Make Gogeta SuperSaiyan 4 Also Canon

If Dragon Ball Daima is truly laying the groundwork for Super, it will need to treat Super Saiyan 4 as a unique, one-time transformation. With limited time left, Daima still has the opportunity to introduce Gogeta, the fusion of Goku and Vegeta, this time in the Super Saiyan 4 state, a form previously seen only in GT and video games. If Vegeta does achieve Super Saiyan 4, it opens the door to making this transformation canon, and Daima has already hinted at this possibility.

Dragon Ball Daima is the franchise's modern take on Dragon Ball GT, and its introduction of Super Saiyan 4 redeemed the series' past mistakes.

The series has been foreshadowing fusion from the start with the introduction of Fusion Bugs. With Goku struggling to defeat Gomah even in his Super Saiyan 4 form, Gogeta may be the key to overcoming him. However, this can only happen if Dragon Ball Daima doesn’t stop at Goku’s transformation but also grants Vegeta this legendary form, allowing Gogeta Super Saiyan 4 to become canon before the series concludes.
