Whether players prefer single-player career modes or multiplayer competition, MLB The Show 25 looks to be boasting a healthy amount of content that should satisfy everyone.

Road To The Show Is The Main Feature

From High School To The Major Leagues

Road To The Show is The Show's main single-player career mode that will be returning for a new iteration in The Show 25. In the newest version of the mode, subtitled "The Amateur Years," players will be able to step into the shoes of a young rookie as they take their very first steps into the baseball world. The mode's storyline will cover games played in both high school and college settings as players chart their course to becoming a legend in the world of baseball, including actual college teams in the lineup.

The mode will strive to emulate the authentic feel of playing on a schoolyard baseball diamond with its sound design and will allow players to shape their story with more in-depth character customization options and progression systems than ever before. The mode will also show off The Show 25's new Impact Plays and quick-time events for players in all positions during a game.

Franchise Offers More Management

Revamped Mechanics Offer A Tighter Experience

In contrast to Road To The Show's focus on one person's story, The Show's Franchise mode allows players to take on the role of an entire organization and guide their franchise through seasons of play. Franchise mode offers features like building a roster, signing players, and making trades while guiding a team to the top in The Show 25.

Little has been revealed about any sweeping changes to Franchise mode, as the focus instead seems to be on tweaking and refining certain aspects of the experience. MLB The Show 25 will overhaul the way free agents function during Franchise mode, deepening the core strategic elements of the mode and pushing to weigh the costs and benefits of any potential moves they want to make even more strongly.

Storylines Takes A Historical Approach

A New Season Of The Historical Mode

Storylines mode returns once again after making its initial debut in MLB The Show 23 and continuing in MLB The Show 24. Once again, the mode will be focusing on the unsung legends of the historical Negro Leagues, with the third season bringing in a fresh roster of players with new stories to tell about their baseball journeys.

Featuring narrations by Bob Kendrick, president of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, the third season of Storylines mode will offer fans a look into an oft-forgotten part of baseball history dating back to the early 1900s. The full roster for Storylines in MLB The Show 25 is yet to be revealed, but will likely include a mix of famous names and lesser-known legends who nonetheless made significant contributions to the sport.

Diamond Dynasty Is All About Card Collection

Brand New Ways To Compete And Earn Rewards

MLB The Show 25 Diamond Quest

One of the biggest modes in The Show series is Diamond Dynasty, an evolving online mode where fans can collect cards of their favorite players and use them to build their ultimate dream team to compete against each other. Diamond Dynasty mode in The Show 25 will have several changes, including the removal of sets and seasons, which limited the pool of available players in competitive modes by regularly rotating cards out.

There will be two new ways to play Diamond Dynasty in MLB The Show 25: the first is Diamond Quest, a board game-esque mode with a more comical visual style. The second new addition is Weekend Classic, a competitive mode where players compete in a short-term league that promises to offer some of the best rewards for those who can earn them.

MLB The Show 25 is set to launch on March 18 and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch with full cross-platform play and cross-progression available. With twenty years of legacy to celebrate, MLB The Show 25 looks to be swinging for the fences when it comes to the content on offer.
