Fan-Favorite Candidate To Play The DCU's Batman Reveals He Wants To Be The DC Hero After Blake Lively Pitched Him For The Role

A fan-favorite choice to play Batman in The Brave and The Boldis officially game to join James Gunn's DC Universe following Blake Lively nominating him for the gig. The next live-action Batman will be arriving in the DCU within a few years, as a reboot for the DC icon is being developed for the DCU's Chapter 1: "Gods and Monsters" slate. While The Brave and The Bold movie isn't set to start filming in the immediate future, actors are already throwing their name into the ring to play the Caped Crusader in Gunn's DCU.

John Regan's (via Liam Loves Movies) art was recently re-shared through Instagram, where David Corenswet's Superman is paired up with a fan-art rendition of Brandon Sklenar as Batman for Gunn's DCU. It turns out It Ends With Us actor is open to playing the Dark Knight for DC Studios, as he chimed in with the following:

The idea of Sklenar as Batman in The Brave and The Bold first emerged in late 2024 when Lively, who was his co-star in It Ends With Us, shared on social media that she wanted him to play the DC icon for Gunn's DCU. At the time of this story's publication, casting for Batman in the DCU has not started and is not expected to begin anytime soon.

What Brandon Sklenar's Batman Interest Means For The DCU

It's not shocking that Sklenar has commented on the idea of him playing Batman, especially after Lively suggested he play the Caped Crusader. Following Lively's initial comments on Instagram, it didn't take long for many fans to get behind Sklenar's Batman casting, which has led to various fan-art pieces of him donning the suit. At this point, Gunn hasn't really responded about whether he is considering Sklenar for The Brave and The Bold movie.

Many actors have expressed their desire to be cast as Batman in Gunn's DCU, making it clear that The Brave and The Bold auditions will be extremely competitive. Whether it is Sklenar or someone else, whoever gets cast as Bruce Wayne in the DCU will not only have The Brave and The Bold on the table, but also the chance to play Batman for many years to come in other movies and TV shows from DC Studios. If anything, it would actually be more shocking if Sklenar wasn't interested in playing Batman in The Brave and The Bold and beyond.

While time will tell if Sklenar will expand on his comments about playing the DCU Batman, this will be one of the most sought-after roles in Hollywood when the movie begins the casting process for the reboot. Whether it ends up being an established name or not remains to be seen, as little has been revealed about what type of star DC intends to go for in The Brave and The Bold. For now, the world will have to wait and see who will actually end up starring in The Brave and The Bold as the DCU's Batman.
