FFXIV Reveals New Details For Upcoming Patch 7.2 Including Cosmic Exploration With Mechs, New Field Operations Location, And More
The latest Final Fantasy XIV Letter from the Producer, streamed live on February 7, revealed a lot of new content coming to the game next month. The next update to the massively popular Final Fantasy MMO will bring new locations, raids, events, and more fun new ways to interact with the game's world.
FFXIV's Patch 7.2, called "Seekers of Eternity," is scheduled to come out in late March, and it will continue the story of the protagonist and their entourage as they travel across the new lands of the West. The update will bring new content to explore, the beginning of the Cosmic Exploration feature that was teased last year, and so much more. Game Director Naoki Yoshida, known affectionately by the community as Yoshi-P, provided a breakdown of what to expect, according to 4Gamer.
Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.2 Will Add Tons Of New Content
New Details Revealed About Exciting Upcoming Features
During the presentation, Yoshi-P unveiled more information about the upcoming Cosmic Exploration feature, which sees FFXIV exploration extending to the stars (again). The new feature will task players with developing different planets similar to the Ishgard Restoration from the Shadowbringers expansion. Players will work together to change the planet in stages, but also allow newcomers to look back on the progress the community has made. Square Enix plans to release a new planet for every patch 7.X. The Cosmic Exploration feature will also utilize robotic mechs in some way, though more information will be revealed during the next Letter from the Producer.
Patch 7.2 will also introduce a new Field Operation, "Crescent Isle: Mirage Island," located in the Shades' Triangle off the Eastern coast of Yok Tural. Crescent Isle will include small-scale and large-scale battles against enemies and boss monsters, as well as 48-player raids. The location will also allow players to equip secondary jobs from previous Final Fantasy titles.
Everything Else Included In Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.2, Seekers Of Eternity
New Raids, Quests, And, Most Importantly, Hildibrand
The next patch coming to FFXIV will include many more updates besides Cosmic Exploration and Field Operations. According to the Square Enix website, the update will also bring the new "The Underkeep" dungeon, the "Arcadion: Cruiseweight Tier" raid, a normal/extreme trial version of Recollection, and the new Unreal-tier Hells' Kier trial. There will also be new Allied Socety quests, PvP updates, and so much more.
Out of all these awesome additions, there's one final reason to be excited for Update 7.2: The update will continue the ridiculous misadventures of Hildibrand and his friends in the wonderfully titled "Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adentures." Patch 7.2 is coming to Final Fantasy XIV in late March 2025.
