Finally, Chainsaw Man Is Teasing the Return of a Character We've Waited Years For

Warning: Contains spoilers for Chainsaw Man chapter #192Chainsaw Man's second part is nearing the total length of chapters featured in its first, leading many to believe the series is entering its final climactic arc. Denji, the usual victim of terrible tragedy, has seen it all in recent entries, from the death of Nayuta to abuse at the hands of Yoru, marking one of the series' darkest sections yet. However, the most recent chapter #192, titled "How Devils Play", has given fans a reason for optimism, teasing the return of one of the franchise's most beloved characters.

Part One's final chapters were a roller coaster of emotions, eliciting feelings of despair, triumph, and hope from readers. By the end of the headlining battle with Makima, Denji alone stood victorious, and gained a new little sister to boot. In the four years since the finale, though, the anime and manga community haven't quite been able to get over one character's heartbreaking death. Luckily, it seems Chainsaw Man is teasing towards the return of that very character, in some form at least.

Chainsaw Man Teases the Return of the Blood Devil

Denji's Promise to Power Has Finally Been Addressed

Power, the Blood Devil and one of Chainsaw Man's most popular characters, last appeared in chapter #91, "Power, Power, Power", where she made Denji promise to find her after the new Blood Devil reincarnated. Since her death, she hasn't been mentioned much throughout the series, appearing briefly in flashbacks or hinted at in dialogue. Over 100 chapters later, however, Chainsaw Man has finally mentioned Denji's promise, confirming he's still on the look-out for the Blood Devil.

While speaking with Yoru, following perhaps the most devilish date in history, Denji touches on his losses, namely Nayuta and Power. Though he knows the Control and Blood Devils are out there somewhere, he knows that neither will be the same devils he once knew. The moment is intimate, heartbreaking, and rare, seeing as Chainsaw Man's protagonist has historically avoided subjects that are traumatic or painful for him. On the other hand, the sudden mention of Power, along with the pace at which the series is progressing, seems to suggest the Blood Devil will soon reappear.

When devils are killed in the Chainsaw Man universe, they are reborn without any recollection of their past lives. While the return of the Blood Devil will certainly be a joyous moment for the series' incredibly large fan base, there's a chance it might be a painful one as well. For as dark a series as Chainsaw Man is, though, author Tatsuki Fujimoto has a track record of writing incredibly hopeful themes into his stories. The Blood Devil may very well reappear as Denji's enemy, though such loving relationships between devils are rare.

There's no telling how Fujimoto will handle this return, though if the new Blood Devil is able to remember her time as Power in any way, she can become the friend Denji has sorely needed since her final appearance over four years ago. Chainsaw Man seems to be rapidly approaching its climax, and the mention of Power in the latest chapter signals her return for the final act, in whatever form that may be. Until then, Denji has his hands full with Yoru, and must avoid being turned into a weapon if he wants to find the Blood Devil.
