Jim LaValley noticed that the Tupper Triad, in Tupper Lake, has become more and more popular, so he decided to put together a race up Coney, Goodman, and Arab mountains. The winner, Louis Ferrone, of Syracuse, finished in an hour and a half—but “most of the competitors were content to just take it easy, with an eye out for the free beer and lunch that came with the registration price.”
