First Nintendo Direct Of 2025 Could Be Very Soon, According To Clever Fans

The next Nintendo Direct date may have been revealed thanks to some eagle-eyed fans. The Directs are presentations that reveal games, share new information, and generally inform the fans of Nintendo's plans for the near future. The presentations are generally held every few months, and with the last one airing in November 2024, it seems to be about time for some news from the company.

Nintendo's next official Nintendo Direct is scheduled for April 2, which is when the company plans to reveal more details about its upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console. It seems likely, though, that the company will have one more Direct in February. Reddit user cookiemaster221 (as reported by ComicBook) has spotted a sign that the Nintendo Direct will, in fact, happen and that it's likely scheduled for February 4.

Why Maintenance Could Point To A Nintendo Direct

The Reddit user shared a screenshot of Sava Data Transfer maintenance planned for Tuesday, February 4 from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. Pacific Time. In the past, Nintendo has often preceded their Directs with maintenance of this kind, suggesting that the potential date for the Nintendo presentation may be coming as soon as next week.

It's important to remember that this is still just a rumor and not a confirmation that anything is happening. Redditor PacketLoss-Indicator points out that the two occurrences aren't always related, and even shares a table of all the "Transfer Maintenance and Nintendo Directs for the past 3 years." Although they don't always line up, in the past year the maintenance did, indeed, take place just before the Nintendo Directs.

A Nintendo Direct In February Is Likely

Rumors have been circulating about a February Nintendo Direct for a while, though it's unclear what the focus of the presentation would be. According to the reputable leaker and journalist known as Brazil, the rumored February Nintendo Direct will be entirely focused on the current-gen Nintendo Switch and will include at least one reveal of a final "big, but niche" game franchise for the existing console.

Often, when a new generation of consoles is announced, it means support for the current generation is coming soon. Nintendo has already confirmed that the Switch and Switch 2 will be backward compatible, making it likely that the company will continue to develop games for both consoles, at lease for a while. A February Nintendo Direct is extremely likely, even if the date is incorrect, as it would show fans that they can count on the company to keep their beloved console alive.
