First Squid Game Season 3 Images Reveal A Handcuffed Gi-Hun & An Ominous Delivery As Netflix Officially Confirms Release Date
Netflix has unveiled the first batch of images from the highly anticipated final season of Squid Game. Created, written, and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the hit dystopian thriller follows financially desperate contestants who enter a high-stakes competition of South Korean childhood games—losing means death. After a groundbreaking first season in 2021 and a long-awaited second installment in 2024, Squid Game season 3 will bring its ultimate conclusion as Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) continues his dangerous mission to dismantle the games from within, and face the aftermath of his recent uprising.
Now, Netflix has released first-look images of the hit dystopian series, confirming that Squid Game season 3 will premiere on June 27, 2025. The platform offered Screen Rant a chilling preview of the violence, power struggles, and shocking twists still to come: Gi-hun is handcuffed to a bed; Cho Hyun-ju (Park Sung-hoon), Park Yong-sik (Yang Dong-Geun), Jang Geum-ja (Kang Ae-Shim), and Kim Jun-hee (Jo Yu-ri) stare in horror at a black coffin in the middle of the barracks; and Hwang In-ho (Lee Byung-hun)—who is now back as the Front Man—sits in the surreal VIP room. Take a look at the photos and the Squid Game season 3 official poster below:
What Squid Game Season 3’s First Images Mean
More Brutality, Secrets, & The Games’ Shocking Aftermath
These images suggest Squid Game season 3 will be more intense than ever, as Gi-hun and his fellow players endure the fallout of the failed rebellion. Gi-hun, handcuffed and seething, glares up at a shadowy figure—perhaps the Front Man—suggesting harsh consequences for his attempted uprising. Meanwhile, a black coffin wrapped in a pink bow—a grotesque symbol of the games’ theatrical cruelty—shocks and horrifies Hyun-ju, Yong-sik, his mother Geum-ja, and a still-pregnant Jun-hee. Is the body inside one of Gi-hun’s allies from the uprising? Or could it be a gruesome message from the game’s masked organizers?
The season will also continue the ongoing subplot with Kang No-eul, a former soldier and North Korean defector working as a guard for the games. An image shows No-eul kneeling outside the arena, her face bloodied, suggesting she remains entangled in the underground organ-harvesting scheme run by corrupt Masked Men. Previously warned by the ruthless Masked Officer to stay out of their operations, No-eul now appears to face a brutal choice: expose the scheme or become part of it.
The Squid Game VIPs are also set to return, as seen in an image of the Front Man back in the lavish VIP room, where some of the world's billionaires wager on contestants’ fates behind golden animal masks. As Gi-hun’s revolution looms, the series may finally unmask these powerful benefactors, revealing their direct influence over the deadly competition. Meanwhile, another image of In-ho shows him alone, staring at his signature mask—a moment that hints at a deeper internal struggle for the villainous overseer, whose finished participating in the games himself as Player 001.
Our Take On Squid Game Season 3’s First Look
A Thrilling & Devastating Final Chapter
Squid Game season 3’s first images hint at a harrowing final chapter, packed with tension, betrayals, and brutal consequences. Gi-hun’s captivity signals that his rebellion has backfired with the remaining Squid Game players subjected to its bloodied aftermath. Yet, In-ho seems set to face a personal reckoning, his brother Hwang Jun-Ho still at large. Clearly, Squid Game is gearing up for an unforgettable finale that will push its characters—and its audience—to the brink, and I personally can't wait for that summer Netflix binge.
