Forget GTA 6, Date Everything! Is Already My Most Anticipated Game Of 2025

As much as I am awaiting the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 this year, the indie dating sim Date Everything! is my most anticipated game of 2025. Rockstar’s game is slated for arrival later this year, with some rumors hinting at an October release. This will be the first new installment in the franchise in 12 years – GTA 5 was released back in September 2013. With its predecessor being so popular and bringing forth several innovations, players are eagerly awaiting GTA 6. In fact, the title won the award for Most Anticipated Game during The Game Awards 2024.

In spite of all the hype around the new action-adventure game by Rockstar, which has the potential to become even more popular than the previous title in the series, the release I am most looking forward to this year is an indie game called Date Everything!, which is being developed by Sassy Chap Games. The title is a dating sim that will allegedly live up to its name and allow players to embark on romantic adventures with nearly every object in their house – considering that these objects come to life and interact with the player in unexpected ways.

Date Everything! Has An Interesting Proposal For Dating Sim Fans

Players Can Romance 100 Characters

Dating sims are a niche genre and, certainly, the idea behind the title will not cater to all types of players. Even so, for dating sim fans, the proposal for Date Everything! is building up to be the epitome of what players of this type of game want: a wide pool of potential candidates. According to the dev team, Date Everything! will have 100 romanceable characters to pick from, most of which are anthropomorphic objects found within the player’s house in the game, including the bed, fridge, table, globe, trash bag, smoke alarm, toaster, rubber duck, water, and much more.

Even a few less tangible characters will gain life in the upcoming title, such as a nightmare, and someone called Overwhelming Sense of Existential Dread. The game’s plot puts players in control of a character who lost their job to AI (Artificial Intelligence) and one day, mysteriously receives a gift called Dateviators, sunglasses that allow them to perceive the everyday objects in their home as living (and dateable) beings. With 100 potential candidates to romance in Date Everything!, dating sim fans like myself should have dozens of hours of gameplay as we start new runs and try new romantic options.

Date Everything! Already Feels Like A Celebration Of Voice Acting At Its Best

Aside from the wide range of options that will allow me to play the dating sim multiple times and get to know more about each of these dateable candidates, another aspect of the game is particularly exciting to me: every romanceable character is fully voice-acted. From what has been announced so far, Date Everything! feels like a celebration of voice acting and a huge hub for legends of the industry. I, for one, am in a constant state of hyper-focusing on voice actors’ works, while trying to recognize their voices and get thrilled with their range of possible interpretations.

Essentially, this game will have 100 voice actors showing off their abilities at their best. Dating sims are well-known for having a lot of dialogue; in fact, most of the game’s structure revolves around conversations, which allows these characters to grow and potentially entice the player to romance them. This will enable these voice actors, many of which I’ve been following and hearing for years on end, to shine. The entire list of talents hasn’t been revealed by the developers, but some names are already confirmed, including Robbie Daymond (who is part of the studio) and Critical Role’s Matt Mercer.

Critical Role’s Ashley Johnson and Marisha Ray have also been confirmed by the developers, while.

Erika Lindbeck, who worked alongside Daymond in Hi-Fi Rush (Lindbeck played the deuteragonist Peppermint while Daymond played the protagonist Chai) is also set to appear in the dating sim as the dust bunny named Dolly. Brianna Knickerbocker, who is well known for her role as Hu Tao in Genshin Impact, will play a character known as Holly. Even One Piece’s David Sobolov and Baldur’s Gate 3’s Neil Newbon will be featured in Date Everything!, as Washford and Drysdale, respectively. Ray Chase, Max Mittelman, and Amanda Hufford, all of which are Sassy Chap Games actors-turned-developers, also play characters in the game.

As a voice-acting enthusiast who lacks the talent to be one himself but admires the work, Date Everything! seems like a dream game for me. That stacks with the fact that I am part of the group of players who enjoy dating sims and the replay factor that they can provide, especially when considering how goofy some of them are. One of my favorites is Hatoful Boyfriend, which can be considered one of the best meme games. I’m positive that I will be able to enjoy a silly story with incredible voice acting and find my new favorite dating sim.

When Is Date Everything!’s Release Date (& Platforms)

While the dating sim was originally slated for release on February 14 (coinciding with Valentine’s Day), Sassy Chap Games made the decision to postpone the release by a few months. According to a post by the developer on the official Date Everything! account on X (formerly Twitter), the game’s content has already been completed, but the team is working on correcting bugs and tweaking the title’s many possible story paths (and fixing glitches that may arise from them). As such, the studio made the decision to delay Date Everything!’s release to an unspecified date in June this year.

The game will be released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (via Steam). Aside from the Nintendo Store, it can be wishlisted across all other platforms’ shops. Although I am still looking forward to GTA 6 and playing it for hundreds of hours like I did with the previous entry in the series, Date Everything! already holds a special place in my heart thanks to what it’s built to be: a huge dating sim that gathers some of my favorite voice actors in what I can only anticipate will be a collection of comically funny stories.
