Godzilla Is Coming Back With an Original Manga and a New Monster

Godzilla, the undiscussed King of Monsters, is coming back soon with a new manga. Not satisfied with stomping all over the world with numerous movies, anime, and even American comic books, the most famous kaiju in history will soon star in a new original manga. First announced during Godzilla Fest 2024, it has now been confirmed that the manga will start serialization on Akita Shoten's Young Champion on May 27, 2025.

This is not the first time that Godzilla appears in a manga, of course, with most of the movies featuring the kaiju having been adapted in comic form, besides original stories and anthology. The most recent Godzilla manga was published in 2018, and it was an adaptation of the anime movie Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters.

Godzilla Is Ready to Take Over the Manga World

Classic Franchise Artists Will Be Working on the New Manga

Most of the manga featuring Godzilla were, up to this point, either movie adaptations or anthologies of short stories. This new serialization promises something different, with an original story written by Ju Ishiguchi and the debut of a new, never-seen-before space kaiju, designed by Hiroshi Maruyama, the artist responsible for the design of the majority of Ultras and Kaiju in the Heisei Ultraman Series.

The design of Godzilla in this new manga will also be the work of a legendary artist, Shinji Nishikawa, who was a designer on the majority of the Heisei and Millennium Godzilla films. With such creative legends behind, this new, yet untitled Godzilla manga promises to cater both to longtime fans of the franchise and new fans, ushering in a new era of kaiju-sized destruction and action.
