State Sen. Mike McGuire’s proposal to create a 300-mile-long hiking trail from San Francisco Bay to Humboldt Bay passed the state Senate Transportation and Housing Committee by a bipartisan 12-0 vote this week. The project would convert a railroad track into a hiking trail winding through wine country and redwood country, along the Russian and Eel Rivers, and up to Humboldt.
