Haikyuu!! Just Teased a New Anime Season to Finish Its Story

Haikyuu!! fans are about to have their wishes come true as the possibility of a final anime season of the beloved sports series has never been higher. With a new movie on the way and short episodes accompanying it, the franchise is about to get much more exciting as the story approaches its long-awaited conclusion.

The official website of Haikyuu!!announced the confirmation of the franchise's second movie, which will adapt the highly anticipated match between Karasuno High and Kamo Medai. Furthermore, it was confirmed that the match between Fukurodani and Mujinazaka would also be adapted, most likely in a 3-4 episode OVA. While this news was indeed very exciting, fans may have missed the fact that the website teases that Haikyuu!!'s final arc would be adapted in a seasonal format, which is something that has been looked forward to.

Haikyuu!! Final Arc Could Be a Full Anime Season

A Subtle Hint on the Official Website

When the movies were announced in 2022, they were labeled as "Final," which concerned fans, as there was so much content that couldn't be wrapped up in just two feature-length films. However, the official website no longer refers to the movies as final, suggesting the possibility of another project to adapt the Final Arc. While it’s possible there could be another movie to conclude the series, a full anime season is just as likely—and perhaps even a better option. A season would allow for a more in-depth exploration of the story, giving fans the closure they’re hoping for.

Spanning from chapter #370 to #402, the Final Arc will take place many years in the future after the duo Hinata and Kageyama graduate from high school. The first half of the arc will focus on Hinata as he travels to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to learn beach volleyball and improve his skills as a player. In the second portion, he will go back to Japan and finally become a professional volleyball player and face off against Kageyama in the series' final match to settle their rivalry. Given that the series has typically adapted 2–3 chapters per episode, the Final Arc could form a single cour, a 12-13-episode season.

The Haikyuu!! Movies Cut Out a Lot of Content

A Fifth Season Could Fix This

One of the biggest criticisms of the movies was they cut a lot of important content that otherwise made the match much better. The movies were short as well, coming in under 1 hour and 30 minutes, which is too short to do justice to the 30-chapter match. A season, however, would have plenty of time to adapt all the content as well as make anime-only additions that would enhance the source material.

Haikyuu!!'s past seasons did a wonderful job at this, and if the franchise's final arc does end up receiving a full anime season, it would surely be an amazing way to send off one of the best series in the past decade.
