Happy's Place Season 2 Renewed At NBC
Happy's Place has been renewed for season 2 at NBC. Serving as Reba McEntire's return to a leading sitcom role, the multi-cam series is one of the new comedies on the network alongside St. Denis Medical, with McEntire portraying Bobbie. After the surprising news of inheriting her father’s restaurant, Bobbi finds out she has an unexpected partner in the venture: her half-sister Isabella (Belissa Escobedo), a sibling she didn't know she had. Created by Julie and Kevin Abbott, Happy's Place season 2 looked to be in a good position for confirmation.
It is now official, with Deadlinereporting that NBC has renewed Happy's Place for season 2. As is the case with St. Denis Medical, the Reba-led sitcom experienced a leap in viewership which meant that the network was satisfied with the performance of its two new entries on the comedy block.
What The Renewal Of Happy's Place Means
Viewership Surged
Happy's Place has done well in the ratings, even growing in its Friday timeslot. A dive into the numbers reveals that the show's premiere episode has risen to 17.6 million viewers. The number takes viewership from all platforms, broadcast, and streaming, into account and represents a jump of 338% since the sitcom first debuted in October. Happy's Place is also the second-biggest comedy debut on NBC's streaming service Peacock, just behind St. Denis Medical.
The cast of Happy's Placealso includes fellow Reba alum Melissa Peterman, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk, and Rex Linn.
The renewals of veteran NBC comedies Night Court and Lopez vs. Lopez are not guaranteed, with both described as being “on the bubble.” Perhaps with the strength of the new shows, though, there will be enough goodwill to carry the network's entire comedy block forward. For fans of Reba's leading return, the renewal means a continuation of the personality clash between Bobbi and Isabella, not to mention more reunions.
Our Take On Happy's Place Getting Renewed
It's A Good Year For Stars On Broadcast
Reba was a formative sitcom for a lot of viewers, and Happy's Place has carried that forward with reunions that reunited some of the actors from that popular show. But at the same time, the fortunes of the NBC series speak to a notably solid year for broadcast where several comedies and dramas are touting high ratings.
