Honkai: Star Rail 3.1

All the information about Honkai: Star Rail 3.1 has been officially confirmed by developer HoYoverse, including the update’s release date, the new characters, the banners, story updates, map expansions, events, and more. The next update for HoYoverse’s turn-based RPG will continue to expand on Amphoreus, the new destination that was introduced with Version 3.0 and not only add new playable Chrysos Heirs for players to pull for, namely Tribbie and Mydei in Honkai: Star Rail 3.1, but new main story quests to progress through and new maps to explore.

Most of the content for the patch had already been leaked thanks to the Version 3.1 beta tests, but now there is official confirmation from HoYoverse, providing definitive insight into what players can expect from the update. This includes details about each of the new playable characters’ gameplay kits as well as what path the story should take following the events of the Version 3.0 Trailblaze Mission Chapter. A lot is in store for the upcoming patch, including a new F2P Light Cone in Honkai: Star Rail 3.1 – luckily, players will not have to wait too much longer.

Officially confirmed by the developer in a press release, the Version 3.1 update will be released on February 26. This shows that the patch is sticking to the regular six-week period for each update and that there have been no delays in terms of upcoming content. With a definitive release date having been revealed, it is very unlikely that the update will be postponed; when a patch is going to be delayed, HoYoverse also tends to hold back on its respective livestream. With the Honkai: Star Rail 3.1 livestream having been concluded, players can expect the patch on the date.

Because of time zones, some regions will have access to the contents of Version 3.1 at night on February 25, as usual. At this point, players will be able to start their journeys through the new story quests from the patch, as well as the Phase 1 banners in the patch. Version 3.1 should last six weeks, leading up to its conclusion on April 8, when the maintenance period for Version 3.2 should commence, making access to the game impossible until its conclusion and the patch’s arrival, which will see the releases of Anaxa and Castorice in Honkai: Star Rail.

Honkai: Star Rail 3.1 - New Characters & Banners

Tribbie & Mydei Are The New Playable Units In The Patch

As was previously teased and leaked, two new characters are arriving with Version 3.1: Tribbie and Mydei. Tribbie is a 5-star Quantum character on the Path of the Harmony, meaning she is a support for team comps. HoYoverse has confirmed that Tribbie’s specialty is creating a special field with her Ultimate, increasing the damage that enemies take during combat while also allowing her to deal Additional DMG to the enemy with the highest HP among the opposing group. As was previously seen in Tribbie’s leaked kit in Honkai: Star Rail 3.1, she can also execute follow-up attacks.

According to the leaks, Tribbie can increase her allies’ RES PEN via her Skill, which in turn also enhances her team’s damage output. While supporting her allies with buffs is her main trick, Tribbie should be able to contribute with a nice amount of damage. The leaks say one of Tribbie’s passive Traces increases her Max HP based on a percentage of her allies’ Max HP. Seeing her Max HP dictates the power of her attacks, it could be a large amount of damage if she is paired up with other HP scalers in Honkai: Star Rail.

On the other hand, Mydei is a 5-star Imaginary character following the Path of the Destruction. Mydei is an HP scaler who sacrifices his own HP to empower his attacks. During combat, he keeps track of how much HP he has lost and, after a certain quantity, Mydei enters an enhanced state, which allows him to deal more damage with special attacks. In this state, Mydei sacrifices his DEF for more HP and Max HP and, because Mydei’s kit in Honkai: Star Rail 3.1 is that of an HP scaler, he consequently deals more damage.

If Mydei can accumulate more charge via HP loss while in this enhanced state, he can transform his abilities once again, from Kingslayer Be King into Godslayer Be God. Furthermore, Mydei can resist fatal damage during combat while he is in his enhanced state, making him a destructive powerhouse. Mydei can also restore his own HP through enemy attacks once he enters a special state enabled by his Ultimate and can even taunt opponents to force them to target him.

The Phase 1 banners for Version 3.1 will have Tribbie’s debut and a Yunli rerun, while Phase 2 banners will introduce Mydei and bring forth a Huohuo rerun. Phase 1 banners will increase drop rates for the 4-star units Lynx, Hook, and Asta, while Phase 2 banners will boost drop rates for Arlan, Xueyi, and Natasha. Phase 1 banners will last from February 26 through March 19, while Phase 2 banners will be available from March 19 through April 8. During each Phase, the featured 5-star characters’ signature Light Cones in Honkai: Star Rail will also be featured.

Two New Maps & A New Boss Will Be Introduced

The patch will also add more main campaign quests for players to progress through. The new Trailblaze Mission Chapter will take players to a new map called the Grove of Epiphany, where the Titan called Xerxes rests as a tree in what can be considered a sanctuary of knowledge. The Trailblazer will be dispatched to the location to negotiate the acquisition of the Coreflame, only to find that the area is under attack. There, they will face a new and mysterious boss called the Flameweaver, who is capable of creating clones in Honkai: Star Rail.

Through the Trailblazer’s new powers, players will also be able to explore Janusopolis, the Abyss of Fate, in the past – this location is Tribbie’s homeland. These are the two new maps that are arriving with the Version 3.1 update. Aside from the new story content, the Divergent Universe will finally undergo its long-announced update, which will introduce the Protean Hero period. Divergent Universe: Protean Hero will feature a day and night system that offers different effects and different blessings for each period, as well as a new item called Tears of Souls in Honkai: Star Rail.

In addition to these updates, Version 3.1 will have several events. The Awooo Firm is an event centered around the chimeras from Amphoreus, putting players in charge of organizing squads of chimeras and assigning them to work. Holy City Appraisals, on the other hand, will have players submit daily materials in exchange for rewards. The login event Gift of Odyssey, which offers 10 free Star Rail Special Passes in Honkai: Star Rail, will also make a return during the update.

The Planar Fissure and Realm of the Strange events, which increase Ornament and Relic drops, respectively, will also occur during Version 3.1.

Version 3.1 will also introduce two new Stagnant Shadow activities: Shape of Gelidmoon and Shape of Sloggyre. These Stagnant Shadows will drop new Ascension materials for Quantum and Imaginary characters, respectively – these will likely serve as Ascension materials for Tribbie and Mydei, respectively. Aside from playable content, per si, the patch will also add some new quality-of-life updates. Players will now be able to synthesize purple materials directly from green materials rather than having to upgrade green items to blue ones and then blue materials to purple items in Honkai: Star Rail.

There will also be an upgrade to the character build optimization guide, making it easier to visualize the items each character needs and how to claim them. While this upcoming patch is not expected to be as big as Version 3.0, it will still have a lot of content to play through. Furthermore, the new character additions are particularly exciting and rumors show that Tribbie may prove to be an indispensable support for the entire year of content in Honkai: Star Rail.
