Honkai: Star Rail Players May Get An Adorable New Pet Soon

A recent leak suggests that players may soon get a new pet in Honkai: Star Rail to accompany them on their journeys. Pets are a fairly recent addition to the turn-based RPG by HoYoverse; the first and only pet in the game, the Tuskpir, was granted to players as a reward for progress during the Luminary Wardance. For reference, this was a limited-time event that occurred during the Version 2.5 update between September 2024 and October 2024, the same patch that introduced Moze, Lingsha, and Feixiao to Honkai: Star Rail.

Since then, no other pet has been made available, despite several accompanying creatures that are showcased throughout the story quests. This includes creatures like Peppy and Diting, for example. Pets have no gameplay functionality other than the aesthetic value that they bring as companions to players’ active characters in the overworld. Even so, pet systems are always welcome in all sorts of games. The Tuskpir pet in Honkai: Star Rail 2.5 was the first step toward deepening this mechanic, and it seems it will expand in an upcoming patch.

According to a new leak, players may get access to a brand-new pet soon, either in Version 3.2 or 3.3. The information was provided by the leaker known as Sakura Haven, which was then shared in a post tagged as “Reliable” on Reddit. The leak doesn’t provide extra information about the rumored new pet, such as the unlocking requirements or even what creature will become a pet. The leak occurred right after the most recent livestream, which revealed the contents for Honkai: Star Rail 3.1, and that may give some insight into what players can expect.

As seen in comments in the Reddit post, the leak emerged shortly after the Version 3.1 livestream, which revealed one of the upcoming events in the patch: The Awooo Firm. This event will be centered around managing groups of chimera in Amphoreus, dispatching them on several activities. The small chimeras are already present in certain areas of Okhema, but the proximity of the leak to the Version 3.1 livestream and the candidates for potential pets do seem to indicate that chimeras may be the new pets in Honkai: Star Rail.

Of course, there is a chance that HoYoverse will revisit older friends for the pet. This could include the aforementioned Peppy and Diting (though Peppy seems unlikely since he is Arlan’s pet) a Wubaboo, or even the player’s Warp Trotter, which normally stays on the Astral Express. For now, all is based on speculation, as HoYoverse has not provided information, and leaks about this subject are still somewhat blurry. With the start of the Version 3.2 beta tests, which will also reveal more information about Castorice in Honkai: Star Rail, players may soon get more details about the rumored pet.

It is important to take all leaks about the game with a grain of salt, as planned content may be reported inaccurately and, even if they are correct, they may still be subject to change.
