Honkai: Star Rail

Farming the Ascension and Trace materials for The Herta in Honkai: Star Rail is a necessary step to fully upgrade the character and take advantage of her perks as a main DPS in team comps. The Herta is a 5-star Ice character on the Path of the Erudition. The character is the first premium unit being introduced in the game’s third year of content, starring in the Phase 1 banners for Honkai: Star Rail 3.0, just before the debut of Aglaea as a playable character. Contrary to Aglaea, The Herta is not from Amphoreus, but important to the story.

The Herta is a unique Erudition character. The 5-star unit uses her Skill to target a single enemy, applying a stack of Interpretation on them. This attack also hits adjacent targets. With her Ultimate, The Herta can rearrange Interpretation stacks, transferring them to Elite enemies and above. Then, she deals Ice DMG to all targets. When using her Enhanced Skill and the enemy’s Interpretation stack is 42, The Herta deals extra Ice DMG. She also gets an Ultimate DMG multiplier for her Interpretation stacks on enemies, making The Herta’s kit in Honkai: Star Rail a force to be reckoned with.

Ascension Materials To Farm For The Herta In Honkai: Star Rail

Gather Items From Across Several Maps

Before putting her abilities to good use, however, you will need to fully Ascend her, and this starts by farming The Herta’s materials. As listed by Honey Hunter World, The Herta’s Ascension materials include Extinguished Core, Glimmering Core, and Squirming Core, which are all part of the same item family. These items drop from Fragmentum monsters, such as the Windspawn, Imaginary Weaver, Sequence Trotter, Blaze Out of Space, and Guardian Shadow. The best way of farming these Core materials for The Herta is by challenging Calyx (Golden) activities in Xianzhou Luofu maps, which heavily feature Fragmentum enemies.

The table below lists all the Ascension materials for The Herta in Honkai: Star Rail, divided per level threshold and condensed at the end:

  • 3x Star Rail Pass

You can also obtained Extinguished Core, Glimmering Core, and Squirming Core by completing specific Assignments, challenging the Simulated Universe and Divergent Universe activities, and from the Embers Exchange shop. These materials are not too tough to gather, but you should be wary that they are also consumed (in a much larger quantity) when leveling The Herta’s Traces, too, so you’ll need to farm a surplus of Core items.

Don’t forget that you can and should use the Omni-Synthesizer to transform lower-grade materials in item families into rarer ones; three Extinguished Cores can be crafted into one Glimmering Core, for example.

In addition to these enemy drops, you will also need to farm an item called Dream Fridge, which is an exclusive Ascension material for Ice characters. For reference, this item was only used before as an Ascension material for Misha in Honkai: Star Rail. Dream Fridge can be farmed from the Stagnant Shadow: The Reverie activity, located in the Dreamscape map on the planet of Penacony. You will need to challenge this activity multiple times to gather all 65 copies needed for The Herta’s complete Ascension, but that should be doable within a few days if not on the first.

To fuel all the Ascension levels, you will also need to invest some Credits. In total, you will need 308,000 Credits to get through all the Ascension thresholds, but you should spend an extra 508,000 Credits if you are using Character EXP Materials to level up The Herta. If you need more Credits, you can farm Calyx (Golden): Bud of Treasures activities – preferably the one located on the Xianzhou Luofu so as to optimize your farming efforts and gather some extra Cores for The Herta’s Ascension and Traces in Honkai: Star Rail.

As was mentioned, Extinguished Core, Glimmering Core, and Squirming Core are also used for The Herta’s Traces. However, the bulk needed to fully upgrade all of her abilities is much larger than that used to Ascend her, so be sure to adequately farm these by defeating Fragmentum enemies. While they are best farmed on the Xianzhou Luofu, you can also farm these by challenging enemies in the overworld in Herta Space Station and Jarilo-VI maps.

The table below lists all the materials needed to fully upgrade all of The Herta’s abilities in Honkai: Star Rail:

The next item family consumed when leveling The Herta’s Traces is exclusive to Erudition characters and is composed of Rough Sketch, Dynamic Outlining, and Exquisite Colored Draft. These three materials can be farmed at the Calyx (Crimson): Bud of Erudition activity located in the Penacony Grand Theater map. A large quantity of these three items will be needed to fully upgrade all of The Herta’s abilities, so expect to spend a lot of time farming. The Omni-Synthesizer should alleviate some of your needs. For reference, these are the same materials for Jade’s Traces in Honkai: Star Rail.

The boss material consumed by The Herta at higher Trace levels is Auspice Sliver. This item drops from the weekly boss encounter Enho of War: Inner Beast’s Battlefield, in which players fight Shadow of Feixiao. This is one of the most challenging boss fights in the game and given the limitation on weekly activities, it may take you a few weeks to gather all 12 copies of Auspice Sliver needed for all of her Talents. Auspise Sliver is also listed among Lingsha’s materials in Honkai: Star Rail.

At higher levels, you will also need to use Tracks of Destiny. This rare Trace material can be farmed weekly at the Simulated Universe and is also often featured as a reward for some limited-time events. Furthermore, you can also obtain some from the battle pass each update and purchase more from the Embers Exchange and Starlight Exchange shops. Only eight are needed, but if you are constantly maxing out your characters, you may run out of Tracks of Destiny.

Lastly, you will need a large sum of Credits to fully upgrade all of The Herta’s abilities. As usual, you can obtain more Credits from nearly every activity, but it’s best to farm them from Calyx (Golden): Bud of Treasure activities. Overall, The Herta’s materials are easily farmable and veteran players may not need to make much of an effort because all of her items were available before the release of Amphoreus in Honkai: Star Rail.
