How Does Deku's Armored Suit Replicate His Quirks? My Hero Academia Is Finally Telling Us

My Hero Academia left fans with some mysteries they've been wondering about when the manga ended back in August 2024. One of the key mysteries has been Deku's new powered armor, and exactly how the suit works, which fans are finally getting some insight into thanks to new art.

The cover for the upcoming Ultra Age databook was recently revealed, showing Deku in his new suit on the cover, providing a clear detailed look at it for the first time. This has sent fans scrambling to try to interpret just what Deku's suit allows him to do, and there have already been some interesting theories. Many fans believe the suit is, much like the Armored All Might suit, designed to emulate the Quirks that Deku once had with One for All, allowing him to fight the way that he used to before the Quirk was more-or-less destroyed in the final battle. So, what power is Deku's new suit packing?

Deku's New Suit Includes a Number of Abilities

The Suit Can Emulate Several of Deku's Former Quirks

@TheUncBubba on X (formerly Twitter) put together an interesting thread, attempting to explain the various pieces of Deku's suit and how they might work. The user pointed out that the gauntlets of Deku's suit are very similar in design to those of the Armored All Might suit, which featured a Blackwhip-inspired launcher, suggesting Deku can still swing around like he did with Blackwhip. It was also pointed out that the open side panel on Deku's right leg looks like a gearshift controller, possibly mimicking that Quirk as well. Deku also appears to have funnels on his wrists, which could be used to deploy Smokescreen.

The gauntlets definitely possess the ability to perform the Air Force technique, as that technology is easily recognizable. The gloves also appear to have some kind of Iron Man-like repulsors to them, possibly to aid in hovering, as he seems to have a jetpack-like attachment on his back as well. It would certainly explain how Deku is able to jump so high in the suit, and would allow him to change trajectories in mid-air the way that he formerly did as well.

The Ultra Age Book Should Reveal Deku's Secrets

Fans Don't Have to Wait Too Long to Have Their Theories Confirmed or Debunked

The Ultra Age databook is due out in Japan on May 2, 2025, so fans won't have to wait too much longer to find out just how close their speculation has been to the truth. The image of Deku in his new suit is definitely very detailed, suggesting it has a lot of abilities to offer, potentially including some that even One for All wasn't able to provide him. Some fans have speculated that he may have access to abilities like his classmates' Quirks as well, the way Armored All Might did, but there's no confirmation of that just yet.

While the Ultra Age book may be the last fans see of Deku for a while, it's sure to hold some tantalizing secrets about just what Deku can do now. Maybe some day, fans will actually get to see Deku's new suit in action, but for now, they'll have to settle for a summary of what My Hero Academia's greatest hero can do.
