Hugh Laurie Must Have Had So Much Fun Doing This House Scene (It's Probably The Show's Funniest Moment)
From the House pilot to the series finale, Hugh Laurie was there through it all, but one of his best moments in the show came early on in season 1. Starting in 2004 and ending in 2012, Laurie starred as Dr. Gregory House in all eight seasons and 177 episodes of the Fox medical drama. It remains one of the actor's best-known and most acclaimed roles to this day. Many lauded Laurie's performance as House, the curmudgeon/overly cynical head of the Department of Diagnostic Medicine at the fictional Princeton–Plainsboro Teaching Hospital (PPTH) in New Jersey.
Hugh Laurie was nominated six times for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series at the Emmy Awards for his performance as Dr. Gregory House in House. Although he never won an Emmy, Laurie won two Golden Globes and two SAG awards for House.
Due to his lengthy tenure on the show, Laurie must have made many memorable memories on the set of House. Perhaps he has too many favorite moments from filming to count. However, one standout scene in House season 1, episode 6, "The Socratic Method," is surely among them, given the context behind the camera.
Hugh Laurie Once Played House Faking A British Accent
Laurie Is English In Real Life
In House season 1, episode 6, House and his team of doctors treat a patient named Lucille Palmeiro. Lucille (who was previously diagnosed with schizophrenia and alcoholism) collapses when a blood clot in her leg travels to her heart and is rushed to the hospital, where she begins to vomit blood. While trying to solve Lucille's case, House calls her other doctors to get more information. Unfortunately, most of them hang up on him. During one call, he tries to put on a British accent, but that doctor also hangs up on House.

As some might already know, Laurie is British in real life. He was born and raised in Oxfordshire, England, and later attended the University of Cambridge. So, over the course of House's eight seasons, Laurie was doing an American accent while playing House. During the production of House season 1, episode 6, though, the actor had to take on the extra challenge of doing the accent of an American attempting a British accent, which must have been fun.

House Gets Its Best Replacement Show With CBS' New Medical Drama 12 Years After Hugh Laurie's Series Ended
Even though it has been over 12 years since House was on the air, CBS finally has the perfect replacement TV show for the Hugh Laurie series.
It's Easy To Forget Hugh Laurie Is British Watching House
Laurie's Accent Is Quite Impressive
Many who watch House are likely unaware that Hugh Laurie put on an American accent during his scenes. He was an expert at hiding his British background. As a result, it was easy to falsely believe he was from the United States in real life. Plus, when House fakes a British accent in House season 1, he truly sounds like an American trying to speak like someone from England, further proving Laurie's exceptional talent.
