I Can't Believe Bullseye Totally Foreshadowed Daredevil: Born Again Episode 8's Shocking Ending
WARNING: The article contains spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again episode 8.
Episode 8 of Daredevil: Born Again shocked me and many others, but I can't believe I didn't see the ending coming after Bullseye foreshadowed it earlier in the episode. The MCU's Daredevil series hasn't shied away from devastating moments that stun its viewers. The opening sequence ended with Foggy Nelson getting killed, and White Tiger was abruptly assassinated right after winning his trial. Born Again season 1 is gearing up for its finale, and left viewers on a massive cliffhanger in its penultimate episode.
Tensions rise to a boiling point between Wilson Fisk and Matt Murdock at the mayor's black-and-white ball. At the same time, Bullseye escapes prison and plans to kill Fisk, who he's been trying to kill since Daredevil season 3. However, Matt jumps in front of Fisk to save him from Poindexter, taking a bullet in the process. As he lies on the ballroom floor bleeding out, the credits roll, preparing viewers for the Daredevil: Born Again season finale. It's a stunning moment and one that we should have seen coming after Bullseye told Matt what he would do.
Bullseye's Line About Good Men Foreshadows Daredevil Saving Kingpin
Benjamin Poindexter, a.k.a. Bullseye, returns in episode 8 after his intense battle with Daredevil in the first episode. Matt visits Poindexter in prison after he is moved to the general population on Fisk's orders. He interrogates Bullseye to see if Fisk is the person who hired him to kill Foggy, but Bullseye tells him he won't answer unless he's released. Matt refuses, but Bullseye tells him, "In another life, you might be defending me. 'Cause that's what good men do. Defend their worst enemies."

Daredevil: Born Again Episode 8 Recap & Ending Explained - Why Matt Murdock Saves That Character
Daredevil: Born Again episode 8 brings back a frightening villain and reveals a major plot twist that completely changes the MCU series.
Bullseye likely doesn't mean taking a bullet for his worst enemy, since it's unclear if he knows Matt is Daredevil. Many presumed Bullseye knew Daredevil's identity after Born Again episode 1, and that was the reason he killed Foggy. However, the scene can certainly be read as though Dex knows Matt's alterego.
Still, it's noteworthy that Dex says this as it foreshadows what Matt will do later. When he saves Kingpin, he's aware that Bullseye is there and about to pull the trigger. Daredevil could easily let Bullseye kill Kingpin, removing a massive problem for him, Heather, and New York City. However, he decides to jump in front of Fisk, saving him from certain death. It shows Matt is still a good person, even if his rage sometimes gets the better of him.
Wilson Bethel's Bullseye Is A Perfect Addition To Daredevil: Born Again
While not officially confirmed, reports suggest Wilson Bethel's Bullseye wasn't included in Daredevil: Born Again before the creative overhaul. Thankfully, he was added afterward, and the show is better for it. He's a perfect addition to the series and an excellent foil to Matt. He's a vicious killer and represents everything Matt isn't. He shows no remorse for his actions and sets the events of the series in motion through his reckless violence.
He's also a connecting piece for Matt and Fisk. In Daredevil season 3, Bullseye worked as an agent for Kingpin before turning on him by the end. In their final confrontation, Daredevil has to fight Kingpin while also preventing Bullseye from killing him, presenting an intriguing dynamic between the trio. Daredevil: Born Again is setting up this scenario again for the finale, making me even more grateful that the creators decided to bring back Bullseye.
