I'm Begging, Please
Any longtime fan of the Power Rangersfranchise knows that many of the best individual Power Rangers never appeared on TV. That's definitely the case for the Omega Rangers - a dream team of teen heroes whose transformations make other eras look downbeat in comparison.
TheOmega Rangers first debuted in Go Go Power Rangers #32. The team is comprised of three of the most celebrated members of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers team - Jason Lee Scott, Trini Kwan and Zack Taylor - as well as an original character designed for the comics, Kiya Kyatyl.
The Omega Rangers sport shoulder pads similar to Tommy Oliver's Green and White Ranger costumes, while their shining costumes combine a black and gold color scheme with each Ranger's individual color. Each Omega also wears a triangular visor with a diamond in the center of their chest, creating a strong team identity.
The Omegas Have the Best Power Rangers Costumes... But Where Did They Come From?
First Appearance:Go Go Power Rangers #32 by Ryan Parrott, Sina Grace, Francesco Mortarino, Simona Di Gianfelice, Raúl Angulo and Ed Dukeshire
The road to Omega began in the fallout of the 'Shattered Grid' arc, centered around an evil Tommy Oliver from another reality - calling himself Lord Drakkon - declaring war on every Ranger from every possible timeline. While the heroes' memories are later wiped of the events that follow, that doesn't stop them proving themselves in the battle against Drakkon. This leads to Red Ranger Jason being contacted by the godlike Blue Emissary. Jason leading an entire multiverse of Rangers during 'Shattered Grid' helped the Emissary choose him as the best candidate to restore the Morphin energy that was lost when the Morphin Grid was shattered.
After stumbling onto one of Jason's secret meetings with the Blue Emissary, Black Ranger Zack and Yellow Ranger Trini are recruited to join Jason's team as well. With their memories of 'Shattered Grid' restored, they tell Zordon they're retiring as Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to join the Peace Corps. In reality, that's a cover for them to go into space to embark on a far grander mission. In space, they befriend an alien named Kiya from the planet Khoodjah. After they're forced to sacrifice their original powers, the Blue Emissary delivers the foursome new abilities, transforming them into the ultra-stylish Omega Rangers.
The Omega Rangers' designs are so impressive to communicate the vast significance of their mission, influencing the forces underpinning the entire Power Rangers multiverse. The Omega designs take classic characters and costumes and upgrade them to an impressive new level, communicating that these Rangers have been chosen by the gods of their world for a vital purpose. In the real-world, it's clear that Go GoPower Rangers took inspiration from the most iconic and best-loved designs in franchise history, effectively giving each hero a White Ranger-style makeover.
Where Are the Omega Rangers Now?
With Such Great Designs and a Vital Mission, the Omega Rangers Shouldn't Be Forgotten
The Omegas went through numerous evolutions across the Power Rangers comics. Most significantly, Kiya went rogue and was replaced as Blue Ranger by a giant feline alien, while Jason retired from being a Red Ranger and Trini was promoted in his place. Sadly, the comics universe of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers closed out with the Darkest Hour #1 finale, leading into the rebooted continuity of BOOM!'s Power Rangers Prime.
While this new canon doesn't have much room for the Omega Rangers, the multiverse is still out there, meaning the team could eventually return. That's something that any fan of the Omega Rangers hopes happens sooner rather than later, but until then any Power Rangers fan who isn't aware of this iconic team needs to hunt down their adventures, with their ambitious missions rising to the same lofty level as their striking designs.

Created by Haim Saban and adapted from the Japanese Super Sentai series, Power Rangers became a cultural phenomenon by combining action-packed footage from Super Sentai with new scenes featuring American actors. The franchise follows teams of young heroes who transform into Power Rangers to battle various villains, using martial arts, special powers, and giant mechas called Zords. Over the decades, the franchise has expanded into multiple TV series, films, comics, video games, and merchandise, becoming one of the most successful children's franchises in the world.
