I Think 1000-Lb Sisters' Amanda Halterman's Recent Health Scare Gave Her A New Lease On Life (Her Weight Loss Journey's Still In Progress)

Amanda Halterman's recent health scare gave the 1000-lb Sisters season 6 star a new lease on life as she continues to pursue her weight-loss journey. I know the 44-year-old has been in and out of the hospital over the last few years. She's had multiple weight-loss surgeries, and suffered a painful knee injury that also ended up requiring surgery. It seemed that as soon as she bounced back from that most recent medical emergency, she was already struggling with another illness. What started as a respiratory illness ended up with Amanda spending three days in the hospital.

Amanda has been through many changes, and her star is on the rise. During 1000-lb Sisters season 6, Amanda was dealing with knee surgery while looking for love. While recovering from surgery, Amanda suffered a demoralizing weight-loss plateau. She couldn't exercise, so she didn't lose as much weight as she wanted. I felt this led to a brief crisis of confidence, and Amanda started questioning herself. Thankfully, Amanda pulled herself back from the brink, but her most recent health scare shook her to the core.

Amanda's Recent Health Scare Freaked Her Out

"Feeling More Like Myself Every Day"

Recently, Amanda posted a concerning Instagram video explaining she was admitted to the hospital for three days. The 1000-lb Sisters season 6 star explained she was feeling ill from what she thought was a respiratory illness. She had even started to feel better, so she didn't think it was a big deal until she blacked out suddenly one night.

Amanda's boyfriend and children pressured her into going to the emergency room, where she was admitted for three full days. "I am finally home after a three-stay I the hospital," wrote the 1000-lb Sisters star. "For now we wait for a diagnosis and treatment plan." The 1000-lb Sisters star encouraged people to get regular checkups. The video was filmed at the hospital with Amanda attached to several medical monitors.

"Just a few more days of wearing this monitor but I am feeling more like myself everyday!"

A few days later, Amandawas back home when she posted a photo of herself wearing a heart monitor. The only thing scarier than being sick is not having a diagnosis. Though Amanda was released from her hospital stay, she was still waiting for answers about what exactly happened to her. "Just a few more days of wearing this monitor but I am feeling more like myself everyday!" It's great that Amanda is feeling more like herself, but it's concerning she still doesn't know why she blacked out. Hopefully, she was just recovering from her respiratory illness.

Amanda Learned To Enjoy Every Moment

"Thankful For Every Sunset"

Nothing like a health scare to remind a person every moment is a gift. After Amanda came home from her hospital stay, Amandaposted grateful images of a beautiful pink sunset with the caption, "Leonard Moore thankful for every sunset we spend together." Leonard is Amanda's new boyfriend, and her health scare made the future 1000-lb Sisters season 7 star appreciate every sunset. Amanda's star has been on the rise, and she's eager to get back to living her life.

Amanda's Weight-Loss Journey

Ups And Downs

Unlike the other Slaton siblings, Amanda didn't struggle with weight throughout her life. While she was growing up, she was always thinner than her siblings. After getting married and having children is when Amanda started gaining weight. Amanda's first surgery took place in 2017, and she went in for revision surgery with a different doctor years later, in March 2023. During 1000-lb Sisters season 6, Amanda saw the doctor for a weigh-in, where she learned shewent from 299 pounds to 268 pounds. She expected to lose way more weight, it was a disappointment.

"Three months and a lifetime to go."

Amanda felt defeated because she had much more dramatic results after her first surgery, and she posted the before and after photos on Instagram. She has plateaued since her first surgery, in large part due to her knee injury. She was injured while stepping off a swing set at the park. It didn't seem like a big deal at first, but she was later shocked to learn she needed surgery. Recovering made it impossible to get in enough physical activity.

Since her health scare, Amanda has advocated that people go in for their regular checkups.

Between Amanda's exciting new relationship and her thrilling weight-loss journey, the 1000-lb Sisters season 6 star has so much to live for. Hopefully, Amanda won't have to wait much longer for a diagnosis. It's possible that she blacked out because she was weak from her recent respiratory illness. The good news is Amanda went to the hospital instead of ignoring the incident. Since her health scare, Amanda has advocated that people go in for their regular checkups. It remains to be seen if she'll take her advice.
