Incredible SpongeBob SquarePants Video Updates Iconic Nosferatu Episode With Bill Skarsgård's Count Orlok

A viral TikTok video has reimagined the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "Graveyard Shift" by replacing its original 1922 Nosferatu character with Bill Skarsgård’s 2024 version. The 2002 episode of the Nickelodeon show is regarded as a SpongeBob SquarePants staple, and features a scene where Nosferatu flickers the lights on and off to scare SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward, who thought it was The Hash Slinging Slasher. By the end, they realize it is the vampire, to which they playfully exclaim,"Nosferatu!"

TikTok creator @navalta_gfx took the scene and reimagined it using visuals from Skarsgård’s portrayal of Nosferatu. Using an animation style similar to that of SpongeBob SquarePants', the creator animated Nosferatu flickering the lights, then jump-scaring SpongeBob, who is dressed as Ellen Hutter. Patrick is Thomas Hutter and Squidward is Professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz. The final shot even mimics the iconic hand/shadow shot from the new movie, but replaces the hand with SpongeBob's spatula. Check out the short film below:

What This Means for SpongeBob SquarePants And Nosferatu

The Nosferatu And SpongeBob Crossover Is Charming And Nostalgic

"Graveyard Shift" remains one of the most memorable episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants. Reworking this scene with a reference to the recent Nosferatu reinforces how the series continues to connect with pop culture. The episode has remained relevant for nearly two decades, proving its lasting appeal. Moreover, the fact that SpongeBob SquarePants can still spark new creative interpretations speaks to its lasting impression. It’s more than just a children’s show; it’s a pop culture megastar. This reinterpretation of Skarsgård’s Count Orlok shows how SpongeBob continues to evolve alongside new trends. What started as a quirky gag in 2002 can now be reimagined with a modern, darker twist.

Also, the popularity of the video emphasizes how SpongeBob SquarePants continues to engage audiences through platforms like TikTok. These platforms allow for crowd-pleasing jokes and the reinterpretation of classic episodes, making them accessible to new viewers while keeping them relevant. By revisiting and reworking these scenes, social media creators contribute to the show’s sustained relevance in modern media.
