Invincible Season 3 Cut A Major Comic Hero From Cecil's Origin Story
Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Invincible season 3, episode 3!
Invincible season 3 finally unveiled Cecil Stedman's origin story to those unfamiliar with the comic books, but the series adaptation managed to cut one major character from the source material. Amazon Prime Video's Invincible series has been shockingly accurate to the source material, with very few comic changes being made to Invincible seasons 1 and 2. However, things have begun to depart a bit further as Invincible season 3 has rolled out, with the new batch of episodes offering a litany of major changes, including completely cutting one important character from Cecil's origin story.
Invincible sesaon 3 still focuses on Mark Grayson, but it has also given a greater focus to GDA Director Cecil Stedman than ever before. Invincible season 3 has mostly focused on the ideological battle between Cecil and Mark, with Mark disagreeing with Cecil's usage of former killers like D.A. Sinclair and Darkwing. Meanwhile, Cecil feels as if these actions are necessary to protect Earth. Invincible season 3 uses Cecil's backstory to frame how Cecil has become this way, and while it is relatively similar to the comic book series, there is one massive difference.
Brit Is A Part Of Cecil's Origin Story In The Invincible Comics
He Is The One Who Saves Cecil
Cecil's origin story in Invincible season 3 is fairly similar to his comic book story, although their are some slight differences. In both versions, a younger Cecil is sent on a mission to stop two supervillain terrorists. He discovers that they are planning on inciting a revolution by releasing a toxic, skin-melting gas into the air. While attempting to stop them, Cecil is caught in the gas. Cecil's skin is burned off, and he is recovered by other GDA figures who take him back to base and give him artifical skin. However, the difference comes in who rescued him.
In the Invincible TV show, Cecil is rescued from his mission by some nameless GDA soldiers. However, in the Invincible comics, Cecil is rescued by a character named Brit. Brit is a soldier who was born before World War I, with him having a variety of powers, including invunerability. Brit is immune to basically all forms of damage, with him being one of the hardest characters to kill in the Image Comics universe. Brit appears in Invincible, but he is not an Invincible character, with him instead being a separate Image Comics character who frequently crosses over.

How Strong Is Omni-Man? Invincible's Ultimate Warrior Puts the Hulk to Shame
The Invincible universe is full of major powerhouses, but Omni-Man stands out as the strongest of them all due to his impressive feats.
Brit's role in Cecil's origin story in the comics is essentially the same as the GDA soldiers' role in Cecil's origin story from the show. However, Brit's involvement in the comics highlights how long Cecil and Brit have been friends for, with it strengthening Brit's involvement in the Invincible storyline and Invincible's interconnectedness with the broader Image Comics universe.
Invincible Has Bypassed Several Opportunities To Introduce Brit Before
He Has Been Involved In Invincible Before
Brit's involvement in Cecil's origin story is far from the first time that Brit has played a role in the Invincible comics, with this appearance just being one of many that the character has. Brit is arguably Invincible's most recurring Image Comics crossover character, with him appearing alongside Cecil constantly. In fact, many moments that Brit has in the comics have been given to Donald in the Prime Video Invincible series, including the storyline in which Brit learns that he is part android.

Invincible's The Immortal Explained: Powers, Original & How Old He Is
The Immortal is one of the most important members of the Guardians of the Globe, and here is everything that Invincible has revealed about him.
On top of that, Brit has been involved in other major events, such as one of the fights against Doc Seismic. Brit was also the one who saved Rex Splode after the Lizard League's attack on the missile base in Invincible season 2, with him again being replaced by GDA soldiers in the show. Brit has also been a member of the Guardians of the Globe as well as a high-ranking member in the GDA. There are plenty of times that Brit could have appeared in Prime Video's Invincible. Sadly, it just hasn't happened yet.
Will Brit Ever Appear In Invincible?
Based On The Show's Track Record, No
Unfortunately, it was confirmed that Image Comics crossover characters could not appear in Invincible season 1, and that has held true so far. However, there have been all kinds of rumors that this could be changing. Although characters like Brit and Wolf-Man were previously left out of the series due to rights issues, their importance to future Invincible storylines may force the hands of the show's creators. It is entirely possible that Brit could appear later in Invincible season 3 based on some future storylines, although nothing has been confirmed yet.
